Today we are proud to host our Colorectal Cancer Screening Initiative at Emoyamed Bloemfontein in partnership with Dr VC Simmons Specialist Surgeon.

Early detection saves lives, and this initiative is focused on raising awareness while providing screening opportunities to help identify colorectal cancer at its earliest and most treatable stage.

FREE Colorectal Cancer Screenings in Bloemfontein

In support of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, a major community health initiative is coming to Bloemfontein on 5 & 6 March 2026 – offering free colorectal cancer screenings to eligible patients from the central region.

Led by Dr VC Simmons Specialist Surgeon in partnership with Emoyamed Bloemfontein, the Colorectal Cancer Awareness Endoscopy Marathon will screen 60 patients over two days – completely free of charge.

Colorectal cancer is one of the most common cancers in both men and women, yet it is highly preventable with routine screening. Early stages often show no symptoms, which makes proactive testing essential.

Patients with medical aid, private funding, or public healthcare are welcome to apply. Priority will be given to individuals with risk factors such as:
• Family history of colorectal cancer
• Blood in the stool
• Changes in bowel habits
• Unexplained weight loss

📍 Screenings will take place at Emoyamed Bloemfontein’s modern facility with advanced theatres and specialist support. Spaces are limited, so early booking is essential.
