The Centre for Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing (CRPM), alongside the Product Development Technology Station (PDTS), had the incredible opportunity to exhibit at the Central University of Technology, Free State’s Inaugural Annual Youth Development Conference.

This year’s theme, “Cultivating Youth Agency in a Complex Societal Setting: Transcending the Africa That Is Desirable”, set the tone for a powerful gathering focused on transformation, innovation, and empowerment.

We informed attendees about our services, our 3D printed models, exciting career paths, youth employability, and entrepreneurial opportunities within the world of 3D printing and advanced manufacturing. Our information stall sparked genuine interest, with many young people eager to learn what it takes to pursue a career in this cutting-edge field.

The Central University of Technology (CUT), Welkom Campus proudly hosted an inspiring Winter School Camp for Grade 12 learners.

Energising lessons led by CUT alumni and top educators, combined with motivational talks, and academic preparation made the camp a powerful experience focused on empowering future leaders and preparing them for their final exams and beyond.

The energy was electric as students filled the hall in their CUT blue, ready to learn, connect, and grow. A special highlight of the week was the certificate ceremony, where top-performing learners were recognised for their outstanding achievements, a moment of pride and celebration for all.

A heartfelt thank you to CUT Welkom Campus for inviting the Centre for Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing (CRPM) to be part of this truly special event.

During the week of 30 June to 4 July 2025, the Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT) proudly hosted the FEBIT-NEMISA Career Guidance Workshop, welcoming 60 Grade 10 and 11 learners from Bloemfontein, Mangaung, and Botshabelo. The week was filled with inspiration, exploration, and hands-on learning in the fields of Engineering, Built Environment, and Information Technology. The Centre for Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing (CRPM) had an incredible time presenting the fascinating world of 3D printing from cutting-edge applications to the wide range of materials we use, our team showcased how additive manufacturing (AM) is transforming industries.

During our presentation, one of our brilliant engineers teamed up with students to co-design a custom implant, a powerful example of how collaboration and cutting-edge technology can solve real-world challenges.

Attendees also got an exclusive look at our advanced facility, exploring everything from rapid prototyping to full-scale production. It was a hands-on journey into the future of manufacturing.

A heartfelt thank you to The Office of the Dean, FEBIT, and the organising committee. Our dedicated HoDs and CUT staff members, marketing reps, and teams from PDTS, CRPM, NEMISA CoLab facilitators, and RGEMS for their impactful presentations and demonstrations.

Together, we helped learners envision a future full of possibilities through education, innovation, and collaboration.

We were thrilled to host the top intermediate phase academic achievers from St Andrew’s School for an exciting 3D printing presentation and facility tour at Centre for Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing (CRPM).

From learning how 3D printing is transforming industries, to seeing our cutting-edge technology in action, the students came curious and left inspired. Their energy, insightful questions, and eagerness to learn made this a truly memorable experience.

A big thank you to St Andrew’s School for partnering with us to spark interest in science, technology, and innovation. It was an honour to share how CRPM is shaping the future, one layer at a time.
