At first, I lost hope and never thought my vision could be corrected. I came to Pasteur Optometrists feeling truly hopeless. I had been to so many optometrists before, but nothing helped. I was overwhelmed, frustrated, and my confidence was shattered.

As a final-year B.Ed student at CUT, not being able to see, even in front of the class, was devastating. I had to stop playing netball because of my vision. Reading textbooks was almost impossible. I couldn’t see the board, and I had to sit very close to my laptop just to make out the words in extra-large font. It deeply affected my academic performance and my mental health.

But everything changed when I met Dina Bornman at Pasteur Optometrists.

For the first time in years, things were clear. With my new scleral lenses, I could see the board, use my laptop at a normal distance, and, most importantly, start believing in myself again. I wasn’t afraid to travel or face a classroom anymore. My self-confidence returned. I felt independent. I no longer needed to be treated like a disabled student.

The lenses Dina fitted for me have been truly life-changing. I’ll never forget the moment I walked back onto campus and everything was so sharp, so clear. It felt like I was living again.

As such we have invested in several technologies to be on the cutting edge of Optometric innovation, such as Spectrum Eye Care software used during eye examinations and the Optikam Measurement System that takes digital measurements of your new frame, as to ensure the most accurate placement of your new spectacle lenses in your chosen frame.

Through our close proximity to the Ophthalmologists of the Horizon Eye Care Centre, we strive to offer only the best Optometric care available, completely independent of the Ophthalmologists.
