# Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati Health District launched the 'Tshela ka itekanelo' health campaign in Christiana on 18 July 2025 during the international Mandela day. This program intends to encourage men and women,young and Old to engage in physical activities and participate on various health services as offered by the Department, the idea is to attract both young men and men who in most cases do not make use of Departmental services.

While the 1.1million ART GAP CAMPAIGN is aimed at getting about 846 HIV positive people in Lekwa-Teemane only back to care by receiving their HIV treatment.

Departmental mobilization team criss crossing Utlwanang as it futher extends invitation to the Christiana community to know the Department together with various stakeholders at Geluksoord Sports ground this coming Friday (18 July 2025) for the much anticipated Tshela ka itekanelo & 1.1million ART GAP Campaign.

Residents of Geluksoord, Utlwanang Marikana and Lekwa-Teemane in general you're here by invited to the following event.

Young and Old, male and female come and be part of a thrilling health experience whereby all manner of health services will be available at Geluksoord Sports ground, this coming Friday 18 July 2025 on Mandela. Many other government departments and stakeholders will be there.

We will first start with a 5KM walk from the sports ground around Marikana and back to the sports ground, where a series of games such as netball, soccer ⚽️ aerobics etc will be dished out.

Some of the services to be offered on site by Health include: Health Screenings on TB, HIV, counseling, condom Distribution (both male and female) and oncology etc.

You're encouraged to come test for HIV and AIDS in order to know your HIV status and if you're positive be put on our treatment program to help your system fight the virus. And if you test negative get more information on how to remain HIV negative in order for us to have an HIV free generation.

The Department remains very concerned about the ever growing statistics of teenage pregnancy in Utlwanang. Throughout the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District, Utlwanang is the highest when it comes to teenage pregnancy. AS A UNITED COMMUNITY WE CAN DO BETTER AND FIGHT THIS LOCAL PANDENIC. Therefore all members of the community are called upon to do their part.

"Tshela ka itekanelo" is an MEC initiative drive which intends to encourage healthy living amongst the general public whilst the Employee wellness Program (EWP) is specifically for Departmental employees. EWP it's a sports oriented drive carried out by the Department towards ensuring health on its employees werein various sporting codes are participated on by employees simply because the Department firmly believes that only a physically and mentally healthy employee can deliver a healthy society.

In living up to it's mandate, the Lekwa-Teemane Health Sub-District recently embarked on such an initiative at Bloemhof Community Health Centre.
