Love this sport. Sad we did not also get a hockey team for the HPL this year.
Common injuries for hockey players.
Head and Face:
Concussions: A leading concern due to the fast-paced, physical nature of the sport.
Facial Injuries: Cuts, scrapes, bruises, and fractures can occur from contact with the puck, stick, or other players.
Lacerations: Common in the head and neck region due to partial facial protection (visor).
Shoulder and Upper Body:
Shoulder Injuries: Including AC joint separations (where the collarbone and shoulder blade meet) and dislocations.
Fractures: Broken bones in the collarbone, ribs, wrists, and fingers are relatively common.
Upper Extremity Injuries: Sprains and strains in the shoulder, elbow, and wrist.
Lower Body:
Knee Injuries: Ligament sprains (MCL, ACL) and meniscus tears are common.
Ankle Injuries: Sprains and fractures, particularly in the ankle and foot.
Hip Injuries: Hip flexor strains, groin strains, and labrum injuries can occur due to the repetitive skating and twisting movements.
Back Iniuries Strains and sorains in the lower back are also possible.
Shin Splints: Medial tibial stress syndrome, a common overuse injury.
Spinal Injuries: Cervical spine injuries, including fractures, are a concern.
Muscle Strains: Hamstring, groin, and quadriceps strains are common.
