SAFETY OFFICER
Overview
This Safety Officer will be based in Benoni. Successful candidate must have Diploma in Safety Management or equivalent, Ms Office (Ms Explorer, Ms Word, Ms Excel, Ms Outlook), driverβs license, 3 years demonstrated SHERQ experience, 2 years demonstrated experience in general administration, knowledge in logistics a plus.

Duties
Risk Mitigation and Reporting
β’ Perform routine safety, health, environmental and quality inspections
β’ Identify and eliminate/minimise exposure to potential hazards
β’ Ensure that notice boards are correct / up to date and communicated to employees
β’ Identify and report on any non-conformances
β’ Report and follow up any unusual situation or condition
β’ Audit work areas and ensure house-keeping practises are implemented and adhered to
β’ Report, verify and co-ordinate the site statistical information
β’ Facilitate evaluation of the tasks identified for the purpose of determining critical tasks.
β’ Follow up on the implementation of the risk control measures and update action sheet accordingly.
β’ Monitor and trend analysis of identified key performance areas
β’ Conduct and capture all misfire investigations
Implemented SHERQ Policies and Procedures
β’ Ensure that all the requirements of the OHS act and statutory requirements are met on sites.
β’ Ensure that staff working at the sites meet all the statutory and legal SHERQ requirements.
β’ Ensure that inspections are carried out so that risks are identified and that the necessary risk management is conducted.
β’ Ensure that prescribed audits are conducted and that the recommendations are acted upon.
β’ Ensure that the necessary incident investigation takes place.
β’ Ensure that required staff training take place.
β’ Conduct internal site SHERQ audits.
SHERQ Documentation
β’ Facilitate compilation and compliance to all standard operating procedures (sopβs).
β’ Ensure that the necessary documentation and administration of health and safety matters are accurate and up to date.
β’ Maintain and update electronic information systems
β’ Manage Sign off on all register files - monthly
β’ Ensure that regulatory processes and process changes are followed and updated and recorded
β’ Assess and monitor Safety Rep inspections
β’ Capture and action all safety inspections and PTOs on client system
Operations enhanced SHERQ internal and external stakeholder relations
β’ Action and communicate risk control measures.
β’ To build effective relationships with relevant external stakeholders to deliver on the mandate of the role
β’ Assist and provide full support to the site management with all SHERQ related problems.
β’ Ensures adherence to SHERQ requirements by all employees on site
β’ Cultivates a quality management culture on site
β’ Oversees the quality of products in line with statutory and company standards
