~ Let go of perfection,
If we wait for perfection, we will always give life to the excuse first.
Many people find the concept of yoga somewhat intimidating, being too self conscious to even try. Many times people will have the intention and inner guidance to join a yoga class or another form of mindful journey, but never show up for themselves.
Firstly, your view of yoga is all wrong. It is not an exercise, it never was. Yoga is a series of mindful movements with a balance of stretch & relaxation with so much more in regards to healing.
We like to have control over so many aspects of our lives - but yoga is not one of them. However, through the practice of yoga and mindfulness you will soon find that you able to control so much more - control over things you never thought were possible and control over things you never knew needed control to start with. With that you will also learn how to accept the things we cannot control.
Judgement & fear does not exist in the yogi vocabulary. If it does surfaces, we allow it and we let it go. There is a magical forming of sister- & brotherhood in yoga, therefore it will always be a safe space and it will always be a space to connect.
I often hear in my classes - “oh, you’re just showing off”… No - I might be able to reach an advanced posture, but I am still learning how to get into others. I am still learning how to use my mind, body, spirit, breath and even my time to allow certain postures & mindful practices - I still have work to do. We will all always have work to do on ourselves, because we are ever changing and ever evolving beings.
No mindful journey needs to be perfect - as long as you start somewhere, as long as you are on your way & as long as you meet yourself somewhere.
