All our work is based in an ancient form of shamanism inherited from the Twisted Hairs. The teachings demonstrate an intimate and profound understanding of science, nature, physics, psychology and physiology – all the ingredients that equip us with the most efficient way to wake up, claim the best of ourselves and carry that excellence forward. To them, hair represented knowledge, so rather than only working within a single tradition they devoted themselves to travelling Turtle Island, braiding and weaving their knowledge and understanding of the world. They generously & open-heartedly shared this knowledge with those committed to seeking balance, harmony and healing. This sacred knowledge of the universal laws, the human psyche, ancient healing techniques, alignment and communication with the elements of nature, ceremonial alchemy, controlled dreaming and spiritual awakening has been handed down from teacher to student for thousands of years and endured the test of time. We are honoured to be a part of this Twisted Hair lineage and it is our privilege to uphold this tradition by sharing the knowledge, wisdom and ceremonies with you, with the same integrity and spirit that our teachers had when they shared the teachings with us.

The space is all ready to welcome eager participants into our Drum Birthing tomorrow.

Birthing a Shamanic Hand Drum is a sacred rite of passage.

There is much preparation that goes into it - just as with any birth - time, energy, and heart are poured into the process. Every step is intentful, a prayer, a weaving of spirit and substance.

Through the drum, we connect to the heartbeat of life itself, the primal rhythm that holds us all, and in doing so, we connect more deeply to our own heartbeat.

The frame becomes the bones of the drum, forming its structure and stability. It teaches us how to trust our own strength and how to hold ourselves with intimacy, resilience, and integrity.

Around this frame, the skin is stretched. The skin is the voice of the drum - the living spirit of the animal who offered itself now sings through vibration. It represents the sacred membrane between worlds, the threshold we cross when we journey. Like the skin of the Earth and our own human body, it carries memory, presence, and life-force.

Together, the frame and the skin embody the union of strength and sensitivity, the balance of holding and yielding, the divine union of feminine and masculine, and the dance of life itself. When we beat the drum, it is not only sound that arises but a reminder of the great interconnectedness of all things.

“I drum, therefore I am.”
To drum is to feel our belonging in the great web of life, to recognise that we are each a vibration in this vast and living tapestry.

In birthing a drum, we are also birthing a new way of listening - to ourselves, to Spirit, and to the pulse of creation moving through us.

Hello SacredJourneys Community. We have been very quiet in the outside world although October has been filled with expansion, confrontation and growth for all of us here at Sacred Journeys.

Lou has been guiding AMWA Students even deeper into the medicine of the Animals and the wisdom of the Spheres in his first 3-month ONLINE Practitioner Training - and what a journey that has been! If you get the chance, consider an AMWA Reading for yourself - especially as you come to this point of the year when assessment is valuable.

I've also just guided brave and beautiful sisters through Changing Woman, 10 days of deep exploration and healing using the sacred mysteries of feminine sexuality. I feel so expanded and shifted in my own being that I will be offering this journey again next year October to only 4 women - so make sure you diarize the dates and connect with me if it speaks to your heart and yoni.

November brings our focus to the Journey of Cycles that we all get to experience in this human lifetime. The circularity of everything cannot be denied and the Medicine Wheels we explore this coming month help us to see ourselves from more than just one static place, but from every direction possible. Plus they provide a unique language to articulate more effectively how we feel and whats really going on for us - not always an easy feat - especially when it comes to communication with loved ones and those relationships we are invested in. These ancient shamanic teachings offer us so much healing of the old stories and pain we carry so we can lighten up and dance around the wheel of life.

During this time we will be Birthing Shamanic Hand Drums (Nov 8 & 9), Journeying into Cycles (Nov 14 - 16) visiting the Body & Mind Festival at Shongweni Market (Nov 29) and stepping through 2025 into 2026 with the 13-week Alchemist's Mentorship (Dec 1 - Feb 28).

Today I want to share my deep gratitude for this beautiful man, who will be feeding us for the next 10 days as we women confront our defenses and armouring through Changing Woman.

Not many women have the privilege of experiencing a healed, balanced man. One who knows how to hold the feminine with reverence and unconditional love and support without compromising himself.

I am blessed to call such a man 'my beloved'. Thank you Worldweaver, for your unwavering love and support - not just for me but for our divine feminine collective.

You continue to teach us how to regain trust in the masculine, to open ourselves to the seed of life and rebirth our beauty and magick as leaders, wayshowers, powerful fertile wombs of the changes we want to see in this world.

May you continue to birth the magnificent God you are.
