Rainwater Harvesting
We have enough free water! It is time to think outside the box. We fit a pressure sensitive pump to the system.

While Government infrastructures and resources are stretched to provide water, we receive free water from rain that simply runs down our drains and into the sea. Your roof surface area is potentially enough for you to harvest FreeWater to go of the water grid for most of the year.
1. Harvest vs Consumption
The initial phase is to determine what your average consumption is. This will determine the storage capacity that will be required. A quick guide would be to look at your Municipal account where your consumption is recorded. Your roofs surface area and the avg yearly rainfall is used to calculate how much water you are able to harvest. Remember it does not rain that much in summer and this needs to be factored into our calculation. The customer’s requirement will determine if we revert back to municipal water in the dry months, or if we are able to harvest enough, increase the capacity to compensate for the dry periods. Boreholes can also be linked to your freeWater System.
2. Storage and plumbing
After we have determined the consumption and what capacity we need to build we survey the site for the best location to build the storage area. Above ground plastic tanks are the most economical way of storing your free water. Underground tanks can be considered where space is a constraint. We link your FreeWater System to your existing plumbing with the option to switch between Municipal water and FreeWater by simply opening or closing 2 taps. The initial investment in the infrastructure should be amortised of at least 10 years. Regular maintenance and servicing of the system will be required for your FreeWater System to run optimally and give the user a longer lifespan.
3. Pumps and water pressure
So, you want you FreeWater System to provide water to your house in the same way as what you have always been used to. As soon as you open your tap the sensor picks up the drop in pressure and provides a normal running pressure feed of your FreeWater. We also have options to include a pressure vessel to the pumping system to further improve the free flow of water as soon as a tap is opened.
4. Clean and healthy
One thing that we cannot forget is the health and safety of your family. It is therefore important to do an assessment of the risk of contamination. Once the assessment is complete we will recommend a combination of the following:
• Inline filtration pre and post the storage unit
• Chlorination systems
• UV Light Filtration
• In House final filtration to 100% potable water
We also recommend that we test samples of your FreeWater regularly at an accredited Lab in order to make sure that there is no presence of harmful bacteria.
5. Regulatory Requirements
All Government and Municipal laws to be observed and complied to. Certificate of Compliance of all Electrical and plumbing work. You can also sport a trendy sign on your front lawn that you are using freeWater. So, if you are ready to receive your FreeWater, give us a call for a site assessment.
