Our Throwback-Thursday is that of the awards we did for Growthpoints staff awards evening in 2021.

What a challenge this was figuring out the process of getting all the components to work together but an absolute pleasure in getting right.

The beginning stages of making our skin moulds with a support casing.

The first step is to layout the clay to support the shell and then accommodate the silicone skin. This is our favourite method of mould making as its an art in itself and always has its unique set of challenges.

Nothing compares to the fine detail that silicone moulds tend to capture. If you are after detail then silicone moulds are definitely the way to go.

These mould are specifically made to capture the detail required for the fine art of sugar flowers for cake making.

Another form of moulds that we make are resin moulds; these are much longer lasting than silicone moulds but are limited to the design constraints of the part.

In this case they are motorcycle bumpers that prevent a motorcycle from being damaged in the case of it falling over.

We had the absolute honour to be a part of a very talented young ladies creation for the Comicon South Africa 2022 event held at Nasrec.
Manufacturing the moulds and then the crystal clear EYES was an integral part of the creation itself, as were the other bits and pieces meticulously created by the Arty Cosplay Girl, we couldn’t have been happier to help out!


Looking forward to seeing all the art this year.

We had the privilege working with an amazing artist; Angelique Bougaard, helping her create these beautiful pieces for her art exhibition-Mase(Kind)ers: it's a Kullid thing! at the University of Witwatersrand Origin Centre.

This was done in collaboration with Angelique, and in her own words "speaks to the spirit of Kanala found within Kullid-ness"
