SLEEP IS IMPORTANT.
Here are some Great Tips to get those Good ZZzzz😴
😴 What happens when you don't get enough high quality sleep? A lack of sleep and poor sleep quality have major impacts on your overall health. Do you ever find that the day after staying up too late it is hard to focus on work, you are more irritable, and are constantly wanting to snack? In the short-term, poor sleep can have negative impacts on your ability to process information, regulate your mood and energy levels. After years of poor sleep, research shows an increased risk of chronic health conditions like diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and obesity, as well as higher rates of anxiety and depression. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1 in 3 American adults do not get enough sleep.
💤 How much sleep do you need? Most adults need 7-9 consecutive hours of quality sleep. School-aged children need 8-13 hours of quality sleep each night.
💤 How can you get better sleep? Start with creating an evening routine by going to bed around the same time each night. Sleep in a cool, dark place, allowing for deeper relaxation and better sleep. Switch to caffeine-free beverages at least five hours before going to sleep, and limiting screen time in the two hours before bed. These changes allow your brain to slow down and begin creating melatonin. Finally, moving throughout the day and getting sun exposure after you wake up reinforces the awake/sleep cycle that your body naturally goes through every 24 hours.
