In January 2014 we sat down with Altus and Anandi Brooks of Solderskraal Jerseys near Swellendam in the Western Cape to plan the road ahead for their herd. We sut up a custom selection index according to their specific breeding goals and set out to help them achieve their goals. With the use of AltaGPS we not only selected the right bulls according to their goals but we also helped them mate their cows according to these goals. We also tracked the progress of the herd by using the Herd Female Index function in AltaGPS.

The progress the herd has shown with 100% Alta Genetics bulls has been nothing short of incredible! There has been a marked improvement in production, health and functional type and we are not done yet!

The Milk Producers' Organisation (MPO) is pleased to announce the inaugural Total Mixed Ration (TMR) Conference, a significant event aimed at advancing South Africa’s livestock industries.
