The use of intensive auditory stimulation as a technique to improve auditory skills has been practised since the mid-1950’s, There are many ways to use music to change behaviour, but a French Ear-Nose-and Throat doctor, Dr Guy Bérard, was attempting to reverse his own progressive deafness. He devised a method of strenuous auditory stimulation that had the desired effect. He later found that this

method had a wider range of uses. This method of intensive auditory stimulation was shown to be helpful for many people with auditory or listening-related difficulties, including
Concentration problems
Painful hearing
Forgetting what one hears
Reading and spelling (phonology) problems
Speech problems
Social skills
These are problems experienced by people of any age, and are also found in children with
Dyslexia
ADD / H
Autism
Speech and language disorders
In many cases the severity of difficulty was found to decrease after ten days of this intensive auditory stimulation programme. Research has tended to show its benefits with no negative changes nor any harm associated with it.
