𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐞?

You only need a pap smear if you're sexually active.

❌𝐅𝐀𝐋𝐒𝐄!

While it’s recommended you get a pap smear from when you become sexually active, Witkoppen suggests that all women start getting pap smears from age 30 (or as advised by your healthcare provider).

𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞'𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐲:
✅ Pap smears screen for abnormal cervical cells that could lead to cancer.
✅ HPV (the virus that causes most cervical cancers) is usually spread through sexual contact, but cervical cancer can develop for other reasons too.
✅Other factors like family history, immune system health and smoking can increase your risk of cervical abnormalities.

We offer pap smear services at our family planning and well women clinic for R200. You can also book at TSW for R300.

🌟 MEET CAROLINE NKWANA 🌟

Caroline’s inspiring journey with Witkoppen began in 2010, when she joined as a volunteer for nine months. Fueled by passion and determination, she made the brave decision to go back to school, rewrite her matric, and pursue her dreams. Her hard work paid off when she graduated with an Honours degree in Social Work from the University of Pretoria. 🎓👏

She later returned to Witkoppen as a Social Auxiliary Worker, where her commitment and compassion didn’t go unnoticed. Through years of dedication, she rose through the ranks — first becoming a Social Worker 💼❤️ and eventually being appointed Head of the Social Services Department.

What’s Caroline’s favourite part of working at Witkoppen?
“The people — the patients, the clients, and my colleagues.” 💛👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Her journey is a powerful reminder that with perseverance and purpose, anything is possible.

Witkoppen Clinic Gives Back on Mandela Day

Witkoppen Clinic dedicated their 67 minutes to the Vukuzenzele Community Centre as a way of giving back. Having often been on the receiving end of support, the clinic felt it was time to return the favor to the community.

We served 67 elderly individuals with a warm meal, toiletry packs, and dessert.

We are incredibly grateful to our amazing partners: Pick n Pay Dainfern, Lonehill, and Fourways Crossing; Evr Water; Food Lovers Fourways, and Astron Energy Dainfern for their generous support.

When it’s cold, we tend to stay indoors with windows closed - but this creates the perfect environment for TB to spread. As an airborne disease, the risk of infection rises when there’s not enough fresh air or proper ventilation.

🌟 MEET MR AUBREY MOAGI 🌟

Aubrey joined Witkoppen Clinic shortly after completing his studies in 2009 🎓. He began his journey as a Reception Supervisor and, through dedication and growth, was promoted to Patient Services & Systems Coordinator in 2025 🚀.

He believes that working at Witkoppen offers endless opportunities to grow and learn 📚. His advice to young people is:
