WELCOME FIONA TO THE KSP TEAM 🥳

“Hi there, I’m Fiona!
I’m a Physio and a Pilates teacher. I come from a big family and adore being an aunty to my nieces and nephews! When not working, you’ll probably find me reading, doing paint by numbers, out on a walk or listening to some good music 😊
I love to travel, both locally and internationally, so it’s handy that I have family and friends scattered around the world 🌎.
I am currently doing a Masters degree, which is an adventure all on its own!”

We are thrilled to have Fiona on board as she brings with her a wealth of knowledge as well as a bubbly energy and smile!

Fiona enjoys working with musculoskeletal and sports issues but has a special interest in pelvic and women’s health and rehabilitation. She is passionate about advocating, empowering and educating her patients and the public in these areas. Fiona is also a Body Control Pilates UK qualified Pilates teacher with 10 years’ experience in both mat work and reformer. She uses these exercise principles in her Physiotherapy work daily.

Diaphragmatic Breathing & Your Pelvic Floor 🌬️✨

Did you know that the way you breathe can directly impact your pelvic floor? Diaphragmatic breathing—also known as deep belly breathing—helps the diaphragm and pelvic floor work together in harmony, creating a balanced system for optimal pelvic health.

🌿 How It Works: When you inhale deeply, your diaphragm moves downward, creating space in your abdominal cavity. This gentle movement signals your pelvic floor to relax and lengthen. As you exhale, the diaphragm rises, and your pelvic floor naturally contracts, helping to strengthen and coordinate these muscles.

🌿 Why It’s So Important:

Encourages relaxation and release of tension in the pelvic floor

Helps reduce pelvic floor dysfunction, including tension and pain

Improves core stability by activating deep core muscles

Promotes better circulation, aiding in recovery and overall pelvic health

Supports breathing efficiency, benefiting your entire body

By practicing diaphragmatic breathing regularly, you’re not only reducing stress but also supporting the natural rhythm of your pelvic floor. It’s an easy, effective way to maintain balance in your body!

Did you know your diaphragm and pelvic floor are like a dance duo? 💃🕺 When they work together, your body's internal pressures stay balanced.

Here's how it works:

Inhale: Your diaphragm contracts, pushing your organs downward. Your pelvic floor muscles relax to make room.

Exhale: Your diaphragm relaxes, and your pelvic floor muscles gently contract to support your core.

This coordinated dance helps with everything from posture to digestion.

Cycle Syncing: Harnessing Your Natural Rhythm 🌕

Cycle syncing is the practice of aligning your lifestyle and activities with the phases of your menstrual cycle. By understanding your body's natural rhythm, you can optimize your energy levels, productivity, and overall well-being.

Key benefits of cycle syncing:

Increased energy: Tailor your workouts and rest periods to match your hormonal fluctuations.

Improved mood: Understand how your emotions and energy levels ebb and flow throughout your cycle.

Enhanced productivity: Schedule tasks based on your peak energy and focus times.

Better sleep: Optimize your sleep routine to support your body's natural rhythm.

Ready to embrace the power of cycle syncing? Start by tracking your menstrual cycle and observing how your body feels during each phase.
