Active TB occurs when bacteria are multiplying and causing illness. It can spread to others and not being treated can prove fatal. Latent TB means the bacteria is in your bloodstream but dormant, causing no symptoms and it isn’t infectious. It can however become active in time, especially if your immune system weakens.
