Ahi Pfunaneni is back, and this year, we’re doubling down on our mission to empower women and girls and end period poverty in South Africa!

In 2024, we made an incredible impact- providing pads, raising awareness, and fighting to break the stigma around menstruation. But we know our work is far from over.
Too many girls still miss school, too many women struggle to afford basic hygiene products, and too many voices remain unheard.

In 2025, we’re going BIGGER, LOUDER, and STRONGER! 🔥
❤️More pad drives- because access to sanitary products is a right, not a privilege.
📢 More education- to break period stigma and empower young girls.
🙌🏾 More partnerships- because together, we can create lasting change.

We can’t fo this alone. WE NEED YOU!
‼️ Donate R40 to prove a pad pack to a girl in need.
‼️ Share this post and help us reach more people.
‼️ Get involved- volunteer, collaborate, and be part of the movement.

LET’s END PERIOD POVERTY!

As we reflect on the fight against HIV and AIDS, we also turn our attention to period poverty. Though they may seem like separate challenges, these issues are deeply interconnected, particularly when it comes to the health, dignity, and empowerment of women and girls in our communities.

1. In South Africa, young women aged 15-24 account for a significant portion of HIV infections. Many of these young women face economic hardships, including period poverty, which can leave them vulnerable to risky behaviors like transactional relationships that increase their HIV risk.
2. Period poverty often leads to girls missing school, limiting their access to critical education on sexual health and HIV prevention.
3. Both HIV and period poverty are surrounded by stigma. Breaking down these barriers is essential for promoting health, equality, and dignity

As we commemorate World AIDS Day, let us remember that tackling period poverty is an essential part of addressing the broader challenges faced by vulnerable groups.
