Lets talk about mood disorders. ✨

Everyone feels euphoric or down from time to time, but this is different from having a mood disorder such as bipolar disorder or major depressive disorder.

Mood disorders are extended periods of euphoric, irritable, or depressed moods that in combination with other symptoms can cause the person significant distress and interfere with their daily life, often resulting in occupational and/or social difficulties.

Therapy has proven to increase the wellbeing of anyone suffering from a mood disorder. Learning how to manage symptoms and prevent situations seen as triggers can help you live a happy and healthy life, despite having a mood disorder.

If you or anyone you know needs help managing a mood disorder, contact me today to book a session. Let me help you.

All animals are born with the skills they need to survive. Snakes are born knowing how to bite, horses are born knowing how to run, dogs are born knowing how to feed, and so on.

What happens when a human is born? They cry out for help. A human is born knowing how to ask for help.

So why do we act as though asking for help isn't a necessary part of survival?

Asking for help does not make you weak, it makes you someone who wants to survive. You should be proud.

Let me help you.
Contact me today to book a session and lets get that spark back in to your life.

As we start this week, lets remember to be mindful in all that we do.

What is mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a state of non-judgmental awareness of what is happening in the present moment, including awareness of one's own thoughts, feelings, and senses.

What are some benefits of mindfulness?

- Greater satisfaction within relationships
- Reduced symptoms of depression and anxiety
- Improved memory, focus, and mental processing speed.
- Improved ability to manage emotions
- Reduced rumination
- Improved ability to adapt to stressful situations.

Looking at those benefits - who wouldn't want to practice mindfulness?

✨Lets talk about Anxiety.

Living with anxiety can be emotionally and physically exhausting. Getting help early means you can start to get relief and recover sooner.

Anxiety is a physical and mental reaction to perceived threats. It can be an extremely powerful tool that protects us from danger, however, when it is too severe or frequent, it can be debilitating.

✨What are some of the symptoms?

- Muscle tension
- Sleep problems
- Increased heart rate
- Uncontrollable worry
- Headaches
- Poor concentration
- Rapid breathing
- Excessive nervousness
- Sweating
- Upset stomach
- Fear avoidance
- Heightened emotions/ being irritable
- Feeling fatigued
- Trembling

✨What are some self-help techniques you can use to help your anxiety?

There are many things that you can do to help ease your anxiety from home:

- Relaxation and breathing techniques
- Exercise
- Meditation
- Good nutrition
- De-arousal strategies
- Yoga
- Alcohol and drug avoidance

Different types of anxiety will respond to different kinds of treatment. If you are experiencing severe anxiety then self-help methods may not be able to help you alone - please contact a professional to assist you if your anxiety is severe.

✨Who can help you with your anxiety?

From your GP to your Psychologist, there are many health professionals that can help you with anxiety. The most important thing is that you speak to someone about it, even if you start by just reaching out to those close to you.

If you or someone you know are suffering from anxiety, reach out today and let me teach you coping skills that you can take with you for the rest of your life!
