Not all endings are final… some are simply waiting for their moment to breathe again.

On this day, remember: what’s been laid to rest can still find its way back—with purpose, with power, with meaning.

Walk forward with quiet strength. The dawn has already begun.

Blessed Easter 2026 💙💜💚💛🐰🐇

In our work, we are reminded daily that every life carries meaning, every family deserves compassion, and every person should be treated with fairness and care.

Human rights are not just ideals — they are lived through the way we serve, support, and uplift one another.

Today, we reaffirm our commitment to treating every individual with the respect they deserve. Every life matters. Every voice deserves to be heard.

What makes Goodall & Bourne Funeral Undertakers different?

We are a proudly women-led, BEE-compliant funeral service provider, built on integrity and care.

Fully licensed and operating with our own mortuary and fleet, we offer families peace of mind through professionalism, transparency, and dignity.

Rooted in our community, we are committed to ethical practices and personalised support during life’s most difficult moments.

Most importantly, we are possibly the only Undertakers publicly raising concerns about the irregularities in the industry. This has been going on for DECADES.

When are the authorities going to step in?

It has gotten worse since Covid-19.

Yes, every industry has its' issues regarding irregularities but death is a personal, sensitive matter that requires professionalism, empathy, and integrity and LEGAL requirements to fulfill.

Let’s talk about the uncomfortable truth in the funeral industry.

Running a funeral business is not just about compassion — it’s about discipline, compliance, and ethical leadership.

Yet, many of us who invest in proper facilities, licensed operations, trained staff, and legal compliance are competing with those who don’t.

Businesses that:

* Operate without proper infrastructure

* Cut corners on regulations

* Undercut pricing because they carry little to no overhead

And then we ask — why is it so hard to sustain a reputable funeral business?

Because managing a business properly comes at a cost.

Real business management means:

✔ Maintaining standards even when it’s expensive

✔ Protecting families, not just profits

✔ Building long-term trust instead of chasing short-term gains

This is not about competition — it’s about the future of the industry.

If we continue to normalize shortcuts, we don’t just harm compliant businesses… we erode public trust.

The question is: Are we building sustainable businesses — or just surviving in a broken system?

This week we remember a well-known and respected fridge mechanic who served many communities across Cape Town. Always willing to help, he was known for his hardworking nature, friendly personality, and the pride he took in fixing things others had given up on. Through his work and kindness, he built lasting relationships with so many families. He will be remembered for the difference he made in everyday lives and the legacy he leaves in the communities he served.

Cape Town Funeral Industry — Let’s Be Honest.

We cannot keep speaking about “professionalism” while tolerating operations that have no mortuary, no infrastructure, no real compliance — yet trade under the same title: funeral director.
Grief is not a discount market.

When businesses cut overhead by borrowing facilities, bypassing standards, or avoiding the real cost of regulation, they don’t become “affordable.” They become unsustainable — and they erode public trust in the entire industry.

The uncomfortable truth?

If we don’t hold ourselves accountable, families eventually stop trusting all of us.

Standards are not elitist.
Compliance is not optional.
Dignity is not negotiable.

Cape Town deserves better than a race to the bottom.

The funeral profession carries immense responsibility — yet regulation and enforcement remain inconsistent.

Families deserve licensed, compliant, fully equipped providers. Professional standards are not a luxury; they are protection.
