As a surgeon attending this year’s Smith+Nephew Academy Repair to Reconstruction Course in Dubai, I was thrilled to share my insights on hip revision surgery. The atmosphere was electric, filled with enthusiasm from a diverse group of global experts committed to advancing medical education for surgeons.

Throughout the event, we engaged in immersive workshops, live demonstrations, and stimulating discussions that allowed us to explore the latest techniques in hip and knee repair and reconstruction. It was inspiring to see how dedicated we all are to enhancing our skills and knowledge.

A straightforward fracture can often be managed with a sling, ice, and rest. However, in some cases, the bone may need to be realigned (reduced) in the emergency room. For more complex fractures, surgery may be necessary to realign the broken bone and secure it with wires, plates, nails, or screws to ensure proper alignment during the healing process.
