One key opportunity ahead for Thailand’s cannabis research industry lies in its unique position as the first Asian country to legalize medical cannabis and actively support research-driven development.

With government-backed initiatives, abundant natural resources, and a strong tradition of herbal medicine, Thailand is well-positioned to become a regional hub for clinical trials, novel formulations, and evidence-based integration of cannabis into mainstream healthcare. The convergence of opioid harm-reduction strategies, cancer research (such as in prostate cancer), and wellness tourism offers Thailand a chance to lead in both scientific discovery and translational applications, bridging traditional knowledge with cutting-edge biomedical innovation.

🌿💚🌱 Breaking Barriers in Medical Cannabis Research🌿🌿💚✊️
Message from Dr Gallow:

🌟I want to shed light on the ongoing stigma that still surrounds medical cannabis—even within academic and clinical research circles.

🌟For the past 2.5 years, I’ve been working relentlessly to publish my research. My first two papers—both rigorous literature reviews—were transferred or rejected by nine different journals, including some in the field of cancer research, all citing that it was "not a suitable fit for this journal"

But I never gave up.

✊️🌟Today, I’m beyond thrilled to share that my scoping review about Cannabis and Prostate Cancer For Quality of life has been accepted for publication by The Next Research Journal (Elsevier | ScienceDirect). 🌿📚

✊️💚As a Cannabis Clinician and PhD researcher, this milestone means more than a publication—it represents perseverance, advocacy, and a step forward in destigmatizing plant-based medicine.

🌿✊️Publishing cannabis research remains an uphill battle. Many journals are owned or influenced by big pharma, and navigating that reality has been one of the toughest parts of this journey.

✊️🌿This acceptance is particularly meaningful as I approach the final year of my third PhD, where these publications are critical to completing my exams.

🔊 To fellow researchers, clinicians, and advocates: Keep going. Our work matters. The stigma is real, but change is possible.

💪 Let’s keep pushing boundaries—and let’s never stop advocating for science, compassion, and truth in medicine.
