Excited about this African-inspired barrier repair oil because the vision started with these watercolour paintings of Kalahari melon, baobab, and moringa seed oils. It is a fast absorbing oil for people that want the benefits of lipids and oils but don't want to use body butters.

The oil blend helps replenish natural skin and hair lipids. The antioxidants trigger repair mechanisms in sensitive, damaged, and ageing skin.
You can either use the oil alone or blend it with your own lightweight moisturiser.

Squalane is a miracle "dry oil" because it is a natural component of the skin and hair and is therefore easily absorbed. The best part is, the less you use the better because it spreads easily. One drop covers your face and neck.

This antioxidant-rich CBD squalane serum is a great multi-tasker. It helps balance the oil production in both dry and oily skin. It also minimizes free-radical damage from the sun and natural ageing.

For those using actives like acids and retinols in their skincare routine it helps repair the skin's lipid barrier.

A great hack is to apply it to the ends of your already styled hair for a non-greasy gloss.

Do you struggle with sunscreen because of your oily skin? Here are some tips to help control oil production while keeping sun safe.

1. Apply a hydrating toner because oily skin is essentially dry skin. Avoid an alcohol or witch hazel toner because they strip your skin of oil and trigger the skin to produce more oil.

2. Apply niacinamide to regulate oil/sebum production. Niacinamide works at a cellular level to control oil production. If your toner or moisturiser contains niacinamide (like our brightening yoghurt) then skip.

3. Apply a lightweight lotion (like our h**p/ brightening yoghurt) OR skip and moisturise with sunscreen.

4. Apply your sunscreen. Either a normal one or one designed for oil control.
For darker skin tones, invisible sunscreen is ideal to avoid a white cast. Chemical sunscreens are safe (says science 😅)!

5. If you wear makeup invest in a setting spray with sunscreen actives to help you touch up your sunscreen during the day.

Upcycling is an important way we can all contribute to sustainable beauty.

Frame 1. Waste not want not. We shave down bars of our slightly wonky cupcake soapies and use them as washing powder. Optional to add equal part Borax for stain removal.

Frame 2: We love trying new products/brands but sometimes our faces are too sensitive for an exfoliating acid or a shampoo doesn't foam as much as we'd like. Instead of throwing them out you can find alternative uses. Exfoliating acids are great for the body to treat in-grown hairs, bacne, and keratosis pilaris. Because body skin is thicker, acids are better tolerated. Shampoos may be used as body washes if your skin isn't sensitive.

Frame 3. Glassware is another easy thing to upcycle around the house. We "acquired" these cuttings from a friend's garden and can't wait until they can survive outside. They just made it outside today for a photoshoot 😅.

If you are interested in cosmetic ingredients because you are conscious about what you use, or you are trying to tailor your own skincare routine, I recommend the Byrdie and Paula's Choice websites. The best way to do a search is in your browser with the ingredient you want to know more about + Byrdie e.g.
On Twitter you can use the search function with the ingredient + thetiarawillis.
