*RECHARGE & RECONNECT WALKSHOP*

Nature, has without a doubt, played a pivotal role (and still does daily) in my journey through healing, recovery and finding balance and peace - and it can in yours too.

If you’re feeling unmotivated, overwhelmed, desperate for a break, disconnected, overstimulated, thinly spread, tired (low key all the time) or stressed - these tools, when used in nature (even your garden, balcony, rooftop, etc) WILL help.

I’ve worked passionately to put words to my experience, and clarify several go-to tools that I use daily to help me in whatever may presenting in my life - be is stress, overwhelm, fatigue, disconnect, sadness.

Join me on a gentle, 2 -hour hike, and let me teach you these simple tools! *Recharge & Reconnect* is a short, nature-based walkshop (yup, that just happened), where I will teach you how to regulate your nervous system through breath and grounding, calm your mind, and reconnect with yourself - using nature.

Shoo… it’s been a minute.

Summer happened and the sunshine and long days (in Cape Town) got the better of me, and spare moments outside of work have been spent outdoors and in nature: grounding, recharging, healing, fuelling… all the good things.

But with the changing season comes renewed energy to bring content to you here and stay as connected as possible!

As always, I’ll continue to share insights from my counselling journey but I’m always interested to know what you’d like to hear more about.

Drop me a DM or leave a comment! Feedback and input is the kindest gift you could give!

Filled with so much gratitude following the Crafting Resilience Workshop last weekend.

It was a workshop about bringing awareness to the concept of mental resilience, that it is a learned skill and therefore something we can consciously finesse, and ideas on how to create a toolkit that helps you achieve this.

Mindfulness is one such tool, and what better way to practice through the art of watercolour. Guided by the immensely talented .naomi - a blissful and collective silence filled the space while workshoppers focussed on recreating fynbos using their newly learned watercolour techniques (largely without judgement)!

Thank you to everyone who joined, and a huge thank you to for hosting us, for the extra help and love, Khaya dog for her calmness, drinkies from & :) Lastly, thank you for the lovely pics!

2025 Think + Create workshop schedule will go live late Dec/early Jan! Hope to see you at one next year :)

*PRICE REDUCTION*

After mindful consideration and shuffling some of costs around, Naomi and I have decided to reduce the cost of this event. It’s a chaotic and expensive time of year, and we want to consider that in our offering.

____

I’m beyond thrilledd to be hosting this workshop in November, together with the most beautiful, talented, tenacious, ‘mentally resilient’ and creative soul, .naomi

I’ll be guiding the ‘theory’ part of the workshop, and look forward to expanding your understanding of mental resilience, and what it means to you. I’ll focus time on tools that can help to increase your mental resilience, which benefits just about anyone trying to juggle the expectations and commitments of life, friends, family, work, sport, etc. I’ll also touch on softening - like how to reconnect with vulnerability and softness if you’re feeling resilience fatigue.

Not only will the theory part of this workshop be empowering, Naomi is a brilliant example of a person who is incredibly mentally resilient, from being able to race 100 milers, while juggling being a vet and running her own art business - so we’ll pick her brain apart a little too.

Naomi will then guide the group through a fynbos inspired ‘beginner-style’ watercolour tutorial, which I absolutely cannot wait for. Creative play, such as painting, is a form of mindfulness that can help you finesse your mental resilience, as well as offer a safe space to practice skills like non-judgemental self talk, etc.

The workshop includes all art supplies you’ll need for the painting portion, as well as drinks, a nourishing meal from Wild Eatery, and a conservation contribution to Friends of Table Mountain.

Just bring a notebook/pen for notes, and an apron for painting.

Here are some of the details, follow the QR code to get your ticket (space limited) or simply tap the link in my bio/stories.

It’s been a minute!

It’s with much relief and excitement that I can make it official.

I’ve relocated my practice to the Burbs!

Relief because transition and change, shoo, even if you know it’s coming, plan around it and have all the tools at your disposal- it’s tough! Right?

But I’m in, I’m settled. 🙏🏼

You can now find me in Meadowridge (just the name of the area sounds dreamy and calm 🌼🌼🌼) or as always, online if that’s your preference.

I’ve moved into a busy practice space made up of physiotherapists, a social worker, a psychologist and an energy healer. It’s light, it’s nurturing and it’s welcoming!

I look forward to establishing myself in this new area, and to welcoming both existing and new patients to the space!

I honestly feel like self-care is one of those buzz words/terms that has lost its value by being misused and thrown around A LOT on social media.

What is your understanding of self-care? Something that you personally practice? Something only lucky people with extra time/money do? Something that is a nice-to-have but not necessary? Something only women do? Take a minute to actually think about what it means to you…

I always tell people who arrive in my practice burnt out, disconnected and fatigued that self-care and a person can be likened to charging a smart phone. A smart phone is a fantastic device that can do so, so many things, just like us. But if the battery is flat, it’s as good as a paper weight. The same goes for you and self-care.

Consider self-care your way of plugging in and recharging. And consider the fact that if you don’t have a healthy self-care practice, you’re likely running on empty, or getting close to it…and are close to ‘paper weight’ status.

If you google it, self-care is “ the practice of taking action to preserve or improve your own health.” Read that again. It means taking steps to meet your physical, emotional, and mental needs, which in turn requires you to be aware of what those are.

Do you know what your emotional, physical and mental needs are?

Do you have a healthy self-care practice?

I’ll be focussing on self care over the next few posts, so if this is something that interests you, stay tuned.

No-one.

People in South Africa:

How are you? Fine thanks and you?

The standard ‘fine and you’ response is a fantastic way to avoid letting people know how you’re really doing. But why do we do it?

Are we afraid to say how we’re really feeling?

Are we afraid of the person’s response?

Maybe it’s the wrong person to tell how you’re really doing?

Or do you not have the language or ability to actually label your emotions?

Think about it for a second? And ask yourself, how am I really doing? What am I feeling? Can I describe it? Is it good or bad, heavy or light? Is it fleeting or have I been feeling like this for a while?

Labelling and being able to articulate what emotions you are feeling is the foundation of emotional regulation, a great tool for your mental health/wellness toolkit.

“Being fully present isn’t something that happens once and then you have achieved it; it’s being awake to the ebb and flow and movement and creation of life, being alive to the process of life itself.” Pema Chodron.

Self awareness and self acceptance can help connect you to YOUR ebb and flow, YOUR process and YOUR self. The benefits of this can affect all aspects of your life and future. It seems so simple, yet so many of us fail to make time for personal exploration and growth.

What is the barrier to seeking out mental healthcare? What stops you from spending time, energy and money on your mental wellbeing?

Why should you know your personal values?

I do so much values work in my practice. I honestly never expected to, and also never expected to be met with so many blank stares when asking patients to share their values with me. One person, just one, knew what I was talking about. The rest, it was a new concept.

Values can be described as the set of beliefs or principles that you use to guide the way that you live, love and work. They form your own personal belief system that guides your actions. Knowing and having clarity of your values can be especially helpful when going through life transitions, being faced with difficult decisions, in times of identity crisis, or when experiencing relationship difficulties (not just romantic relationships, work, family and friendships too).

Outside of crisis, knowing your values can increase your self confidence, and make you feel more grounded and connected to yourself. They could help you replace bad habits with better ones, and most importantly, values help you define and set personal boundaries, the rules you create that protect you from being hurt, manipulated or exploited by others.

Please pop me a DM if you’d like to learn more, or a comment if you have questions about values and how you can start the process of exploring yours.

Do you know your personal values?
