Sealine Social Edibles Club (SSEC:WC)

Sealine Social Edibles Club (SSEC:WC) Sealine Social Edibles Club (SSEC:WC) - ALL ABOUT FISHING!!!! The Club has already hosted a number of very successful events over the last three years.

The Sealine Social Edibles Club (SSEC:WC) was established during 2009 under the auspices of the Sealine South African Angling and Boating Community (Sealine.co.za), an internet based Forum with currently some 30 000 registered members. Although the Forum caters for all angling disciplines the SSEC:WC serves the Rock and Surf angling fraternity in the Western Cape. The Club is dedicated to the preservation of all marine resources and as such practices “catch and release”. The Club is not affiliated to any angling union; hence the reference to being a “social” angling club but has adopted a comprehensive Constitution and Club Rules in line with organised angling structures. We hosted a very successful Galjoen Clinic and subsequent Galjoen competition during 2010 and an even larger more successful Cob Clinic and subsequent Rock and Surf Angling Competition during February 2011 . The Club also hosted an open angling competition during March 2011. These events were open to all interested anglers. The Cob Clinic and subsequent Open Rock and Surf competition were attended by just over 200 anglers from all walks of life and included both women and junior anglers. The Club’s events are normally widely publicized. The Cob Clinic and Rock and Surf competition were even covered by television (e-News).This year 2013, more than 490 anglers registered for the Annual Cop Derby. Apart from special ad hoc events such as this Cob Clinic and open competition the Club also holds regular monthly internal competitions as well as inter-club competitions on ad hoc basis. Other competitions include an annual Club ranking system based on individual member’s performances throughout the year as well as a Club Records ranking system for individual fish species. The Club also has a social conscience and as such actively supports initiatives aimed at improving underprivileged people’s circumstances. To this effect the Club dedicated the proceeds of its Open Galjoen Clinic and subsequent Galjoen competition in May 2011 to the Chaeli Campaign. The Chaeli Campaign is a non-profit organisation that equips young children with the necessary skills to be able to organised events/fundraisers where the funds are used to uplift children with disabilities. Recently the Club also generously contributed to an initiative of the Kleinzee Angling Club and Lions Club of Springbok to take 40 underprivileged children fishing. Anyone can join the Club. You simply have to first register (free) as member of Sealine.co.za and subsequently apply for membership to the SSEC:WC Club via e-mail to Sealineclub@gmail.com.
