Aimee Barrett Biokineticist

Aimee Barrett Biokineticist Aimee Barrett Biokineticist is a private biokinetics practice based at the Pinelands Tennis Club.

Biokinetics uses the science of movement in the application of exercise in rehabilitative treatment for return to full function and sport. A Biokineticist performs a physical and functional assessment, uses rehabilitation exercises to help athletes return to sport after injuries, corrective exercise training to prevent injuries and exercise as medicine for those with chronic diseases like obesity

and diabetes. How can Biokinetics help you?

- Injury rehabilitation
- Injury prevention
- Posture correction
- Correcting muscle imbalances
- Sport specific conditioning
- Management of chronic conditions (high blood pressure/high cholesterol, obesity, diabetes, arthritis, Parkinson’s disease, stroke etc)
- Health/weight management
- Improving quality of life

The initial consultation includes a medical history and physical assessment - anthropometric measurements and functional testing depending on the individual’s requirements. The results from this testing allow an exercise programme to be designed specific to each individual. Private exercise sessions can then be arranged during the week at times which suit the individual. Home programmes can also be prescribed as additional support to ensure the patient is given every opportunity to improve. Discovery Vitality Fitness Assessments can be completed at the private practice which will help increase Vitality points for the year.

As we continue to celebrate Healthy Lifestyle Month, always remember smalll changes can make a big impact! So why not create a 'Movement Challenge for the Office'! You don’t need an hour at the gym to move more! Here’s your challenge:

✅ Stand up and stretch every 30 minutes
✅ Walk while taking phone calls
✅ Use the stairs instead of the elevator
✅ Do seated leg lifts while answering emails

Biokinetists recommend breaking up long periods of sitting with small bursts of movement. It keeps circulation flowing, prevents stiffness, and boosts focus!

Tag a colleague to take on the challenge with you!
