Being a designer by day and yogi by night, Eon enjoys being creative and problem solving. Having always had a love for teaching and helping people, incorporating that into his love for yoga was a natural progression.

“I don't believe in contorting yourself and making other people feel uncomfortable because they can't do the same thing. I want to use yoga to build strength and make people feel comfortable with their bodies, but mostly to relax and have a good time on their mats.”

Let’s talk mudras. It’s not something that’s inherently in my own personal practice, but they are great for setting an intention or helping you bring focus. A mudra of my own creation (read I’m borrowing it) from my favourite sci-fi series Star Trek is the Vulcan salute. Open your hand, bring your index finger and middle finger together, bring your pinky and ring finger together. 🖖🏻 Live long and prosper. This is why I like this one, we want to live long, we want to prosper, we want the same for others.

Looking to practice your side crow?
Parsva Bakasana is a daunting pose but try these three variations and tips to practice it.
1. Get that hip onto the floor and lean into those elbows, try to lift your feet if you can. Hey it’s a baby side crow. Gives you that push and lever into your arms to play with the shape of the pose.
2. Rest your hip onto a block and feel what it feels like to put weight into your hands while lifting your feet.
3. Rest your head onto a block when you lean into your side crow. This gives you support and balance while you figure out your shelf.
All 3 are going to help you find the shape and build arm strength to find the pose. Which one works for you?

I have the discipline to explore and try, yet the wisdom and strength to know when it’s kinder to myself to say no.

I’ve been wanting to make a post about this for a while. The human body is absolutely amazing and it’s wild how asymmetric we are. Especially with hip postures, where I am a prime example. You can see my one side is completely different from the other side. In pigeon posture the supposed correct alignment is your shin parallel with your mats short edge. Can you see the one leg is not parallel? My hip doesn’t rotate and open in that way. Look at the second slide when I bring the shin in line with the mat, I can’t even put my knee down. We can adjust for this and play with the postures, like adding a block under the glute and hip to support. How wild is the difference in postures?

Words cannot express how I feel after this weekend. Being nominated and getting the 3rd spot as one of the top yoga instructors for in the Cape Coastal region was mind blowing. I never expected something like this to happen. For someone that picked up yoga as an escape from my daily life and work, to have it become a career… who would have thought? It’s been a wild ride and I couldn’t be happier sharing the stage with two amazing instructors and , we work hard to keep our dogs in kibbles. Working for Virgin Active has come with some steep learning curves and and .damien_ thanks for always having a kind word and advice when needed. Here's to our next chapter and for us to just keep growing and touching more peoples lives.

I am very quickly falling in love with the practice of Sound Bath, purely because of the fact that as a child I was never musically gifted. This practice seems to have brought something out of me that I am thoroughly enjoying. Coming from a musical family, my dad plays 7000 instruments and has every Bob Dylan recording known to man, plus my brother is a Sound Designer, it’s a bit weird that I was never able to pick up an instrument. I’m enjoying this practice not just for the ability to “play” something musical (for the first time in my life) but for the serenity and the peace it’s giving my yogis. Also I’m very much falling in love with the G note 😂😂😂. Hope to see you soon in a Sound Bath.

Did I dress up like Santa? Did they catch me in a lizard pose? Did we do Christmas in July? Was the suit very warm for a Vinyasa flow? Yes to all of the above. Sometimes you just have to make the funny in your practice and have the fun no reason other than being ridiculous.
