Open Mind & Open Heart ✨

As mothers-to-be and new moms, we all do it - we imagine what our pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey should look like. We create pictures in our minds, build expectations, and hold onto beliefs about how it will all unfold. It’s natural - it is how we prepare and connect to this huge life change.

(Spoiler: Social Media doesn’t always help! 🙈)

But what happens when reality doesn’t match the vision? When the birth doesn’t go to plan, the emotions feel heavier, or the postpartum phase feels lonelier than expected?

We can feel disappointed, frustrated… even angry.

This is your gentle reminder to approach motherhood with an open mind and an open heart. 💚 Let go of the “shoulds,” and meet yourself with compassion. Your journey is valid - even when it looks different from what you imagined.

Motherhood is beautiful, but it can also feel isolating. That’s why I created this space for moms to come together - because we all need connection, movement, and support.

If you have a little one (from just a few weeks old to 1 year), grab your sling, carrier, or stroller and join us for a relaxed walk, good conversation, and fresh air.

Location: Llandaff Fields, Cardiff
When: Every Friday at 09:00 (Weather dependent)

2023 was a year of challenges and change. It was also a year where we were stretched beyond our comfort and allowed ourselves to let go of many familiar things and habits.

Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week: What is Perinatal Anxiety?

It's important to note that experiencing some of these symptoms during pregnancy or postpartum period is common, but if they start to interfere with daily activities, it's important to seek help from a healthcare provider. Perinatal anxiety can be treated with a combination of therapy and medication, and seeking help early can improve outcomes for both the mother and baby.

MENTAL HEALTH SELF-CARE 🌸

Implementing self-care strategies can really help with your mental well-being, by reducing stress and providing you with the energy necessary to effectively cope with change, and manage your emotions.

1. Take things one step at a time and one day at a time.
2. Stay hydrated, and eat regular, nutritional meals.
3. Incorporate physical activity into your routine, such as short walks, to boost your mood and energy levels.
4. Rest or take naps when you get a moment.
5. Share your thoughts and feelings with a non-judgmental and supportive listener.
6. Set some time out for yourself, even if it's brief, to refresh and rejuvenate.
7. Practice relaxation techniques like deep breathing, it can be really helpful.
8. Don't hesitate to ask for and accept help from others.
9. Focus on urgent household tasks and say no to non-urgent ones.
10. Stay connected with family and friends for social support.
11. Limit visitors when you're feeling tired and communicate your need for rest.
12. Consider attending parenting classes and support groups to connect with others who may be going through similar experiences.

Many women feel a lot of pressure to be the perfect mother, especially when they're pregnant. Society makes it seem like being pregnant should be all sunshine and rainbows, so women might feel like they're doing something wrong if they don't enjoy every minute of it or if they're uncomfortable. They might feel like they're not living up to the ideal of the happy, glowing pregnant woman who loves every little thing about her baby.

After the baby is born, there's even more pressure on new mothers to be there for their child. People expect mothers to be nurturing and attentive all the time, even more than fathers. It seems like mothers should always put their own needs aside to take care of their child. This can make women feel really guilty if they ever feel tired, frustrated, or just not very interested in being a mom all the time.

Negative thoughts and feelings are a normal and natural part of the motherhood experience. 💚

🥂Wine is delicate!

It reacts to the ambient temperature 🌡️ and either becomes its best self or hides away its beautiful flavours and aromas. 🫣

If you drink a wine colder❄️ than it was intended to be enjoyed at, you run the risk of losing the beautiful aromas and certain distinct taste notes, leaving only the tartness.

On the other hand, by drinking wine at a higher temperature 🔥 than it was intended for, you could experience a wine that feels heavy and one-dimensional.
🫐Berries tend to be the dominant flavour and become overemphasized, and the alcohol factor can be over-dramatized.
