Tummy aches, hard or infrequent stools, “withholding” (crossed legs, tiptoes), or skid marks in the pants can all point to constipation. The good news: small daily habits help a lot.
Try this: offer water regularly; add fibre (fruit, veg, whole grains, beans); build movement into the day; sit on the loo for 5–10 minutes after meals; use a footstool so knees are above hips; encourage calm breathing or “blowing bubbles” to relax; praise effort—not results.
Avoid: shaming, frequent stool-holding, and stopping medicines too soon. Laxatives can be very helpful, but it’s best to use them under medical guidance.
