MGD- Primary Health Care

MGD- Primary Health Care MGD-Matie Gemeenskapdiens or Matie Community Service is an NPO situated at the Tygerberg Medical Campus that provides free clinics to disadvantaged areas.

The aim of this service provision is to interact with these communities in their specific context through the provision of health promotion and education in order to empower communities to improve and maintain their own development and well-being, thereby creating the hope of a sustainable future.

​Our service includes medical consultations, physiotherapy, dietary consultations and occupational therapy. Our medical strategy favours prevention of disease over curative management, hence the strong focus on health promotion and education.

The MGD Primary Health Care Programme provides a comprehensive and holistic after-hours primary health care service to communities that don’t ordinarily have access to health care services.
