Dyspareunia is the medical term for painful in*******se. The pain can occur during, before, or after sexual activity and might be felt in the ge***al or pelvic area.
Types of dyspareunia and causes
🪷 Superficial Dyspareunia
Pain occurs at the vaginal opening or introitus, often during initial pe*******on. This can be due to various infections, poor lubrication, or skin conditions.
🪷 Deep Dyspareunia
Pain is felt deep inside the pelvis during in*******se. This can be due to endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease or ovarian cysts.
🪷 Primary Dyspareunia
The pain has been present since first sexually activity. It can be related to conge***al conditions or psychological factors.
🪷 Secondary Dyspareunia
This occurs after a period of pain-free sexual activity. It might develop due to new physical conditions, surgeries, or post-delivery.
🪷 Situational Dyspareunia
Pain occurs only in specific situations, with certain partner, in a specific position or during particular sexual activities.
