This year for my birthday, a dear friend gave me this jar filled with notes to open on days that feel heavier than most. Looking at these notes, what stands out is that they have nothing to do with how we look, what we own or how many hours we spend at the office. They speak about memories, about who we are and about relationships. And that, truly, is what matters most.
It reminds me of one of my favourite Maya Angelou quotes:
“People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
So, as cliché as it may sound - let the people close to you know how much they mean to you, remember what really matters and never forget what an enormous impact seemingly small actions and gestures can have on others.
