It is with heavy hearts that we report the passing of Dr Carissa Saunderson. However, in the truest Dr Carissa fashion, we do not want to send her off with words of professionalism and niceties. Instead, we want to share words in the way she lived, from the heart. For we can all agree that those of us who had the privilege of her presence, even just for a moment, now holds a story of encountering pure Magic. For is that not the truest description of who she was.

Dr Carissa lived a life of servanthood to every individual that crossed her way, serving as a healer of more than our physical wellness. And it is within these small moments of Metaphysical Healing, that we hold on to the parts of her that she so readily shared with us.

Her presence was an absolute force of nature, which was prominent in her passion for Medicinal Cannabis Education, an industry that she definitely stood on the forefront of. We thank her for Championing a fight for her patients, and fellow earthly inhabitants, empowering each of us to better take control of our own health and wellness.

Her reassuring presence, and the safe space that she had been, to not only her family, friends, or her team, but to all, will forever leave a mark. It is for this reason that we thank the Upstairs Team, for granting us the opportunity to have encountered one of their Own. πŸ•ŠοΈ 🌿 ✨

Conclusions of this study:

The use of cannabis was associated with beneficial effects on some Fibromyalgia symptoms. Further studies on the usefulness of cannabinoids in patients with Fibromyalgia as well as cannabinoid system involvement in the pathophysiology (the functional changes that accompany a particular syndrome or disease) of this condition are warranted.

Cannabinoid receptors, which are bound by lipid signalling molecules known as cannabinoids, are the principal targets of the ECS. Cannabinoid receptors are classified into two categories based on their chemical structure and hence serve different tasks in terms of diet, lifestyle, and nutrition:

Cannabinoid Receptor 1 (CB1) is linked to a variety of effects:

🌱 Psychoactive
🌱 Neuromodulatory
🌱 Analgesic

These effects are caused by the activation of CB1 by tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). CB1 cannabinoid receptors are the most common in the brain. Adipocytes (fat cells), hepatocytes (liver cells), and musculoskeletal tissues all contain CB1.

Cannabinoid Receptor 2 (CB2) has anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties but no psychoactive properties. CB2 is found in cells that modulate immunological function and (perhaps) the central nervous system (CNS). According to research, secondary metabolites from phytonutrients in plant-based foods boost CB2 receptor activation and promote healthy inflammatory responses.

Endocannabinoid system receptors and cannabinoids are present and vital in nearly every area of the human body.

The ECS is in charge of fundamental homeostatic functions:

🌱 Relaxation
🌱 Metabolism
🌱 Sleep
🌱 Memory

Additionally, the ECS is in charge of more complicated tasks:

🌱 Neuroplasticity
🌱 Modulation of embryonic development
🌱 Neuroprotection
🌱 Inflammation and immunity
🌱 Apoptosis
🌱 Carcinogenesis
🌱 Pain and emotional memory

🧐 Understanding the ECS and its functions is important because it has a significant influence on human health and well-being. By learning about the ECS, we can make informed decisions about our health and wellness.

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a complex network of receptors, signaling molecules, and metabolic enzymes that most people do not know about. A building body of research shows that the ECS has a significant influence on human health and well-being, serving an essential function in the human body: restoring homeostasis via physiological and regulatory mechanisms.

The ECS is made up of:
🌱 cannabinoid receptors
🌱 endocannabinoids
🌱 metabolic enzymes.
