An astrocytoma is the most common type of glioma—a brain tumour that originates from astrocytes. While it primarily affects the brain, it can also involve the spinal cord. Many astrocytomas are treatable, and some can be curable, depending on their grade and stage.

Combining hyperthermia with standard treatment for astrocytoma has been shown to significantly improve the 3-month treatment response rate by 480% and increase the 5-year survival rate from 25% to 83%—a 3.4x improvement.

Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women worldwide, with approximately 660,000 new cases reported in 2022.

Signs and symptoms of cervical cancer include:
🩸 Abnormal vaginal bleeding between periods
💧 Continuous vaginal discharge
⏳ Heavier and longer menstrual periods
💔Vaginal bleeding or pain during sexual in*******se
🚻 Increased frequency of urination
❌ Vaginal bleeding after menopause

Research in South Africa has shown that three-year survival rates more than double when hyperthermia (meHT) is combined with standard chemoradiation for locally advanced cervical cancer. Using the same EHY2000 device, the number of patients who were disease-free at three years was 32% higher in the hyperthermia group compared to those who received chemoradiation alone.

A 2-minute self-check could save your life. Adding a quick self-check to your daily routine can help spot any early signs of head and neck cancer. Here’s how to do it:

1️⃣ Face: Feel for any lumps or swelling.
2️⃣ Neck: Check both sides of your neck for any bumps.
3️⃣ Mouth: Look inside for sores or anything unusual.

If you find any lumps or bumps, monitor them carefully, watching for changes over 2-3 weeks. If it persists, we recommend contacting your GP.

Did you know?

Meta-analyses and randomised clinical trials have shown that combining hyperthermia with conventional chemoradiation, immunotherapy, or standard supportive care can lead to remarkable improvements in overall survival rates, quality of life, and complete response rates.

Sarcoma is a term used to describe a group of cancers that develop in the bones or soft tissues, such as fat, muscles, blood vessels, nerves, deep skin tissues, fibrous tissues, tendons, and joint linings. With over 70 types, sarcomas can form in various parts of the body. 🎗️

Sarcomas are rare, accounting for just 1% of adult cancer cases and around 15% of childhood cancers. Bone sarcomas are more frequent in children, whereas soft tissue sarcomas are more commonly seen in adults.

Screening tests help detect health issues, like cancer, early, often before symptoms appear, improving treatment outcomes.

Key Reasons Why Screening Tests Are Crucial
🔎 Early Detection: Catching diseases early increases treatment options and survival rates, especially for cancers like breast, cervical, and colorectal.

🛡️ Prevention: Tests like Pap smears and colonoscopies can identify precancerous changes or abnormalities in cells, preventing them from developing into cancer.

😊 Peace of Mind: Regular screenings offer reassurance and allow for proactive management, especially for those at higher risk.

Studies have found that non-resectable pancreatic cancer patients' survival time almost doubled when combining modulated electrohyperthermia (mEHT) with their treatment.

The addition of hyperthermia to pancreatic cancer treatment has been shown to:
1. Significantly improve treatment response rates.
2. Improve median overall survival
3. Prolonged progression-free survival
4. Demonstrate a good safety profile with minimal side effects.

There are various reasons why Hyperthermia treatment may be recommended by your oncologist, including:

💪 If your cancer has been responsive to hyperthermia treatment.
🔄 If you have a recurrence in a location that has already been treated with radiation.
🎯 To sensitize tumours that are known to be resistant to radiation or chemotherapy.

To date, studies have been conducted on tumours of the gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, liver, lung, head and neck, brain, cervix, prostate, melanomas, and sarcomas.

If you believe you may benefit from hyperthermia treatment we encourage you to speak with your oncologist.

Every year, on 8 November, we celebrate World Radiography Day. This date marks the anniversary of the discovery of x-radiation by Wilhelm Roentgen in 1895.

World Radiography Day provides healthcare workers with the opportunity to promote radiography and its vital contribution to modern healthcare. Additionally, the day provides an opportunity to increase public awareness of diagnostic imaging and radiation therapy.

Radiography refers to images of the tissues, organs, bones, and vessels that comprise the human body. A patient's treatment may depend on the accurate and precise production of radiographic images.
