Donating Eggs South Africa

Donating Eggs South Africa DESA is dedicated to connecting young, socially conscious women who would like to help someone realis

Egg Donation South Africa (EDSA) was established in 2007, and was the first egg donor agency of its kind in South Africa. In 2017 we were happy to launch Donating Eggs South Africa (DESA), to specifically see to the needs of our egg donors. The organisation is run by an experienced group of professionals, each of whom is highly experienced in the field of IVF. The team has a practical approach to the services they provide, but at the core of the group is a strong belief that the technical side of the work must be balanced with humanity and the desire to serve people in the best possible way. Our team prides itself on the exceptional level of service that is offered, and aims to always give ample care to each recipient and donor. At DESA, and our parent company EDSA we aim to provide a service that is efficient, as well as effective. We are focused on making egg donation a rewarding and fulfilling experience for our cherished egg donors

MYTH: Donating eggs will negatively affect my fertility, “stealing” eggs from my supply and stopping me from having children one day.

FACT: Donating eggs does not take eggs from your future supply, only the ones that are already ready, and about to go to waste. The average female is born with about 500 000 eggs and each month between four and 13 of these are released. These are the eggs that are extracted during the donation process, leaving your future eggs right where they are inside you, ready to be released in your future cycles.

As for the process of egg donation negatively impacting your fertility–it is unlikely in the extreme. In fact, donors are cautioned to take measures against falling pregnant whilst on a donation cycle, as fertility is increased whilst on the medications used during the donation process.

Donating eggs might actually be good for your future efforts at starting a family, because it is an opportunity to assess your own reproductive health at no expense. Over all, the donation process allows a woman to take ownership of her reproductive health, learn more about her body and embrace the different decisions we can make about our bodies.

Please look out for our infographic on the egg donation process for more detail on the ins and outs of eggs donation.

Some Things to Reflect on and Remember

1. Always take care of yourself - It’s much easier to deal with the stress of infertility around the holidays if you are well-rested and healthy. Vince Lombardi’s saying “Fatigue makes cowards of us all” is absolutely true. Make sure you get plenty of sleep, drink enough fluids, and maintain a healthy diet during this time.

2. Dont feel guilt - Don’t feel guilty if you need to skip a family event or party, because the priority here is focusing on yourself and partner as you navigate through this difficult time. Spend time doing what you like most, and remind yourself that you are a strong, resilient person who can overcome any obstacles in your path.

3. Plan ahead and research - We often feel better when we’re taking positive action to address whatever is on our minds. Cheering up other victims of the holiday blues can be rejuvenating and uplifting, so try to help others in need. However, if you’ve been trying to conceive or get pregnant for some time and you’re ready to consider next steps with a fertility specialist or through assisted reproductive technology, do not wait until the end of holiday season before you take positive steps. There are many different fertility treatments and options for individuals struggling with infertility and once you begin this process, you may find your outlook on life will improve.

In the case of male infertility, when conventional infertility treatments fail or are unavailable, assisted reproductive techniques (ARTs) offer alternatives for achieving pregnancy without in*******se.

These methods, recommended based on the specific infertility type and cause, include:

1. Intrauterine Insemination (IUI):
S***m is placed directly into the uterus via a tube, beneficial for various fertility issues like low s***m count, retrograde ej*******on, and more.

2. In Vitro Fertilization (IVF):
Eggs are fertilized with s***m in a laboratory dish after ovarian stimulation. IVF is versatile, addressing hormone imbalances, blocked tubes, idiopathic infertility, and severe oligos***mia.

3. Intracytoplasmic S***m Injection (ICSI):
A single s***m is injected into an egg, aiding severe male infertility cases or when no s***m is present in semen due to blockages or testicular failure.

4. S***m Retrieval for ART:
Microsurgical techniques extract s***m from obstructed areas, aiming for optimal quality and quantity without harming reproductive organs.

Endometriosis Warriors: Crush Pain with These 7 Tips! 💪🩸✨

1️⃣ Pop those pain meds like a pro! OTC pain relievers, like ibuprofen, are most effective when taken before prostaglandins are released (several days before you expect your period or endometriosis pain).

2️⃣ Heat up for relief! When you use heat therapy, blood vessels dilate promoting blood flow and helping muscles relax.

3️⃣ Power your plate with endo-friendly foods! Diets high in animal products and red meat can increase estrogen production, which can cause abnormal tissue growth.

4️⃣ Get moving to beat the pain! Exercise also releases endorphins in the brain, which can reduce pain sensations.

5️⃣ Master chronic pain management techniques! Some techniques include antidepressant medication, psychotherapy, meditation, and practicing good sleep hygiene.

6️⃣ Consider hormone therapy for a game-changer! Hormone therapy eases or ends your menstrual cycle, reducing the pain and inflammation often experienced with endometriosis.

7️⃣ Explore surgical options to tackle endo head-on! Living with endometriosis just got easier. Let's conquer pain together!
