Some FUN in the OT Room 🎉🎈🥳

These treats were made by three of our kiddies for another special kiddy’s birthday. They were given the opportunity to bake these rainbow cupcakes from scratch and decorate it. Some of the decorations were made by the kids themselves 😃

It took lots of patience, concentration and hard work to complete the task successfully, but the result was absolutely AMAZING 🤩

We focused on following of instructions, fine motor skills, listening skills, and increasing their self-esteem. They were delighted to have their artwork displayed at the party and have it eaten by close family. What a way to feel proud of your work ☺️

S Solomon Occupational Therapy is a private practice based in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town, and is owned by the sole proprietor Shamiela Solomon. Our goal is to enable, enhance and empower individuals’ functional abilities so that they are able to engage in their activities of daily living.

Portrait 1: Shamiela Solomon (Occupational Therapist and Owner)
Shamiela completed her Bacherlors Degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of Stellenbosch in 2014. She then did her community service at Mitchell’s Plain Community Health Centre in the Western Cape and worked at various community health centers and private practices in Cape Town. Shamiela has since worked within the private sector and bring with her enthusiasm and passion for helping clients with various diagnoses and conditions to overcome physical and psychosocial barriers. She has gained vast knowledge and experience working with various clients. She’s completed several courses including: Basic wheelchair seating course, clinical and gross motor observation assessment in Paediatrics, child development and behavior, hand rehabilitation and has also received certification in Pain Management. Shamiela aims to rehabilitate clients through holistic treatment and ensure that clients return to their meaningful occupations in all facets of their lives by enabling clients to be as independent as possible.

Portrait 2: Qaadirah Manuel (Locum Occupational Therapist)
Qaadirah Manuel is a qualified Occupational Therapist who graduated from the University of Cape Town in 2017. She completed her community service at Kimberley Hospital in the Northern Cape and then returned to her home in Cape Town where she continues work part-time at multiple public and private facilities. She has always been passionate about early development and pediatric therapy and has worked with a variety of conditions in pediatrics. She has developed a special interest in hand therapy and upper limb management. Qaadirah is passionate about empowering people and facilitating an enabling process for them to reach their full potential and be as independent as possible.
