Sit quietly. Be aware of your breathing. Check in with yourself. You may become aware of thoughts running through, or some internal dialogue, or a feeling state. Whatever is happening, bring some awareness to it. Don’t try to change it: just try to see it. Remember to breathe.
Teaching:
When we “sit,” we have the opportunity to see where our personality has been magnetized. Where was our attention? Was it in your center—quiet and empty? Or was it thinking, “what’s going to happen next?” Our attention is always moving forward, and if we begin to study it carefully, we will see that our personality is really “out there” somewhere. It’s a projection, and sittings are an opportunity to come back and be centered and to be in ourselves instead of allowing our attention to jump forward.
