Celebrating 10 Years of Air Access!

This week at the CTICC, we came together to celebrate a remarkable milestone: a full decade of Air Access.

What makes Cape Town different from other cities is the way we work: not in silos, but together. Wesgro, Cape Town International Airport, and the City of Cape Town joined forces to create Air Access with one goal: to connect Cape Town to the world. The results have been extraordinary:

- 16 new destinations
- 33 new routes launched
- 80% growth in passenger numbers
- 7.3M two-way domestic travellers in 2024
- 3.1M two-way international travellers in 2024
- Cargo volumes at 75,000 tons

With 2025 already tracking to exceed these figures, it is clear that this collaboration has been a massive win for Cape Town, the Western Cape, and South Africa’s economy.

This is the spirit of Ubuntu: “I am because we are”. Together, we have built more than air routes: we have built opportunity, jobs, connection, and a stronger future.

What a night!
Last night’s Nordic Second Thursdays was truly one for the books. Hosted in collaboration with our friends at Investec Cape Town, the evening was nothing short of magical.

From ‘s brilliant team spanning wealth, international banking, tax, marketing (and even a glimpse into their ReCharge programme!), to our wonderful Nordic community and incredible canapés to boot, the room was alive with energy.

It was an evening of:
New faces and old friends
Lively conversations and fresh ideas
Collaborations born and opportunities sparked
Laughter, love, and community spirit

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined and made it so special. We cannot wait to do it all again at the next Nordic Second Thursdays…see you there!

It is Spring time, and Cape Town is buzzing, and there is no better way to soak it all in than at Nordic Second Thursdays, your monthly meet-up for good energy, new connections, collaborations and a touch of Nordic culture.

✨ Big news this month: We are teaming up with our friends at Investec, who are not only joining us on the night but also treating everyone to drinks. A perfect chance to raise a glass, make new connections, and celebrate collaboration with one of Nordic House’s preferred partners.

Nordic House is honoured to celebrate the inspiring week of the Copenhagen Goodwill Ambassadors 2025 Summit in Copenhagen!

This year’s theme, “Celebrating Friendship,” brought together Danish ambassadors from 25+ countries to exchange insights, strengthen ties, and showcase Copenhagen’s global vision.

Summit Highlights:

- At Copenhagen City Hall, HRH Prince Joachim presented the 2025 Goodwill Ambassador Award to former U.S. Ambassador Rufus Gifford for strengthening Denmark–US relations. Serving 2013–2017, Gifford is only the fourth recipient of this prestigious honour.

- Hosted by Lord Mayor Lars Weiss and his team.

- Inspiring words from Minister Christina Egelund: “When Danes thrive abroad, Denmark grows stronger at home.”

- Exclusive sessions with Brian Mikkelsen (Dansk Erhverv), the Goodwill Ambassadors Board (Martin Manniche, Lars Himmer, Laura Lykkegaard), and visionary entrepreneurs.

- Guided experiences at the Danish Architecture Centre, Innovation District Copenhagen (Mærsk Tower, KU Lighthouse & Niels Bohr Building), and Copenhagen Airport, spotlighting innovation and future growth.

- A memorable dinner where new Ambassadors were welcomed under the patronage of HRH Prince Joachim.

- From our founder, Laura Lykkegaard, a proud Goodwill Ambassador:

Nordic Second Thursdays - August Highlights. Another brilliant winter gathering in Cape Town!

We welcomed yet more new faces alongside our loyal regulars, with guests travelling from as far as Knysna.

From the young to the young-at-heart (and even one determined attendee arriving with a broken leg and getting caught in a lift!), it was a night full of connection and good energy.

Conversations flowed from solar and green energy opportunities to travel industry buzz, with much laughter, kite-surfing plans being made, and plenty of stories shared.

A fantastic turnout, proof once again that even in winter, the Nordic community in Cape Town comes alive.
