It has been a busy year for us at Katherine Tait Physio. We love all our patients but we also value some time for our own self care 😍 and are looking forward to spending time with our families and friends. So, we are off on holiday🤩. We will be closed from 19th December 2025- 12th January 2026.
Thank you to all our patients for your loyalty and referrals to your friends, for the challenges you present us (we love a challenge 😆), for the interesting conversations and your dedication to helping yourself heal and get back to doing the things you love. We love our jobs!
This year we welcomed Sam to the practice (what a blessing), Sabrina continued to work miracles. We introduced the Back and neck assistance programme (BNAP)from workability and continued with the discovery spinal programme enabling patients to access continuity of care and evidence based rehab for back pain at no cost, we started providing weekly physio at Oasis Burgandy retirement village. We took part in wings for life race with our team and our patients. And we saw a whole lot of people walk in on crutches/ bent double in pain/ unable to sit/ stand/ walk/ play sports, who walked/ran out without crutches, standing tall and back doing their chosen activity. We are so grateful to be able to help people every single day 🥰
Have a blessed festive season

We are super excited to introduce our new Stimpod NMS 460 machine. Used for nerve conditions like peripheral neurpathy, foot drop, radiculopathy, restless leg syndrome, migraines. We can even stimulate your vagus nerve to calm the nervous system 🥰☺️
Key Patient Information Points for Stimpod NMS460
Non-invasive Solution: The Stimpod NMS460 is a non-surgical, non-invasive device used to address the root causes of nerve pain.
Targeted Therapy: The technology uses transcutaneous pulsed radiofrequency (tPRF) to target specific affected nerves, potentially restoring natural function and providing long-term relief from chronic conditions like migraines and various neuropathies.
Fast and Effective Relief: Many patients report rapid and effective relief, often showing significant improvement in pain levels and mobility after just one or a few sessions.
Reduced Side Effects: This approach offers an alternative to conventional pain management, aiming to provide relief without the common side effects associated with long-term medication use.
FDA Cleared: The device is cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for treating chronic intractable pain.
Specialist Guided: Treatments are administered by trained healthcare providers (e.g., pain management specialists, physiotherapists) who localize the specific nerves requiring treatment.

Why is physio often the last priority or a forgotten profession? We often see patients who have had back pain, chronic pain syndromes or injuries for years. They have been plied with plenty of medications but never seen or been referred for physio. Is it lack of awareness? misunderstanding of a physios role? or lack of finances? You do not need a referral to see a physio and often the sooner you get the right treatment, exercises or advise, the quicker you can recover or learn to manage your condition in the right way. I saw a patient last week with a history of 8 years of pain in her leg. Pain is gone in 2 sessions. She is now pretty angry with her GP who threw anti inflammatories at it time and time again.

Physiotherapists are first-contact practitioners yet often treated as last priority.

This editorial calls for the full integration of physiotherapy into South Africa’s primary health care system under the NHI, highlighting the urgent need for equitable workforce distribution, policy inclusion, and education reform.

A stronger presence in community health could transform patient outcomes and system efficiency.

Get active. Have fun 😁 Find something you love to do.♥️ If you need assistance getting back to the things you love or want to start a new activity, talk to one of our active physios. We often get asked
"what do you do to stay fit?" Physio Sam loves dance and boxing. And of course being a mum of young kids means you never sit down 🤣
