Friday evening was a true celebration of SACS spirit, showcasing top-class hockey and incredible camaraderie. It was amazing to see the hockey and broader SACS community come together for a night filled with energy, laughter, and a touch of friendly rivalry.

We kicked the day off with the U14A vs U15A match, followed by a showdown between two Young Old Boys teams. In the curtain-raiser, the SACS Old Boys Over-35s team edged out a tight win against the SACS Associates/Parents team. The U23 Old Boys vs current SACS 1st team match was a true showcase of high-quality hockey and ended in a thrilling 5–5 draw at the final whistle.

Huge thanks to our U10 hockey boys, who were brilliant as ball boys – future stars in action!

A big shoutout to Mike Willig for helping pull the event together, and to Andrew Pieterse for snapping the fantastic pics you see here – thank you!

How Your Support Is Making a Difference:

On 5 August 2025, the SACS Old Boys’ Committee proudly donated 10 high-quality Manhasset music stands and 5 Shure microphones with stands—valued at R22 000—to the SACS Junior Music Department.

This contribution was made possible through the generous support of Dustin Dumaresq of Infiniti Insurance, Lyall Morgan and Associates, the many SACS Old Boy musicians and special guests who have given their time freely, and everyone who continues to support SACS OBU Cultural Events.

We're proud to be able to give back to the schools that gave us so much.

🕊️ In Memory of Richard Hugo-Hamman (‘71)

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Richard Hugo-Hamman, a proud member of the Class of 1971.

Richard was a man of intellect, conviction and generosity. A successful entrepreneur, he was known for his sharp mind, strong principles and deep affection for his alma mater. He remained closely connected to SACS throughout his life and, together with the Hugo-Hamman family, contributed generously to help previously disadvantaged students access the life-changing opportunities of a SACS education.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and classmates. Richard will be remembered with fondness and respect by all who knew him.

He truly lived by the SACS motto:
Spectemur Agendo.

Congratulations to SACS Old Boy Robert Hirschson (’24), who has been selected to represent South Africa at the FISU World University Games in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany. To be selected, athletes must meet tough international qualification standards, and this will be Robert’s second consecutive year rowing for SA on the global stage—an incredible achievement last matched by Leo Davis (’10) in 2015 and 2016.

The SACS Music Department warmly welcomes you to one of the most anticipated events on our school calendar – the SACS Old Boys’ Concert, themed “Music from the Movies” – and this year, it’s extra special!

Join us for an unforgettable night of iconic movie soundtracks performed live by the SACS Old Boys’ Concert Band, with film scenes projected on screen to bring the magic to life.

The SACS Concert Band will also be performing.

This concert is the Music Department’s main fundraising event of the year. Every ticket helps to invest in the future of our music programme. Last year, R40,000 was raised, which funded an air conditioner for the Band Room. This year, proceeds will go towards the purchase of a French horn, oboe, tuba, baritone saxophone, and mounted stage lighting for the Lecture Theatre.
