If your post-op massage hurts, they're doing it wrong. Period.
Let me explain why.
The lymphatic system isn't like your muscles. You can't knead it, deep tissue it, or "work out the knots." Lymph vessels are incredibly delicate. They sit just beneath your skin, and they respond to one thing only: gentle, rhythmic, precise pressure.
In the Vodder Method, we use less than 40 mmHg of pressure. That's the weight of a butterfly landing. A baby's touch. Why so light?
Because too much pressure collapses the lymph vessels. They flatten. They stop pumping. And instead of moving fluid out of your swollen tissues, you're justvsquishing it around. No results. Just discomfort.
Worse? Aggressive post-op massage can actually increase inflammation, damage fragile healing tissues, and set your recovery backward.
The right pressure, applied in the correct Vodder sequence, does something remarkable, it stretches the vessel wall just enough to trigger your lymphangions, the tiny pumps inside each vessel. They start contracting. Fluid moves. Swelling decreases. Healing accelerates.
So no, my touch isn't "too light." It's precisely as light as it needs to be to get the job done right.
I've trained extensively in the original Vodder Method. I know the lymphatic system anatomy. I know the pressure. And I know that gentle, when done correctly, is the most powerful thing in the world for your post-op recovery.
If you're recovering from cosmetic surgery in Cape Town, or planning to travel here, you deserve someone who understands that pressure matters.
