Sometimes I sit and wonder… why am I doing this?

Why am I training so hard when it feels like my fitness isn’t improving?
Why am I trying to eat healthy when the scale seems to be on permanent holiday?
Why do I keep signing up for races when I sometimes feel like I might come in… let’s say… fashionably last?

And why on earth do I squeeze myself into tight running gear when my tummy looks like it’s creating its own little speed bump?

But here’s the thing.

I’ve reached that beautiful age where I honestly don’t care as much about what others think anymore.

Yes, those thoughts still cross my mind sometimes. We’re human after all. But then I remind myself of something important:

I’m worth it.

I’m worth taking care of my body—even if the “fatties” decide they’re renting space a little longer than planned.
I’m worth signing up for that 42.2 km race, even if the race organizers might secretly wonder if they should keep the finish line open until sunset.
I’m worth wearing my short running shorts and feeling comfortable, instead of hiding the two legs that have carried me through every year of my life.

Because here’s a little secret about this whole fitness journey:

It was never about being the fastest, the thinnest, or the most perfect.
It’s about showing up for yourself.

Every run, every walk, every sweaty training session is a small promise you make to your body that says:
"I haven’t given up on you."

And honestly?
The medal doesn’t care how fast you were.
The finish line doesn’t care what your tummy looks like.
And the road certainly doesn’t judge you.

So if you’re out there struggling with the same thoughts:

Keep going.
Sign up for the race.
Wear the shorts.
Eat the healthy meal (and sometimes the cake too… balance, right?).

Progress is not always measured in minutes per kilometer or numbers on a scale.
Sometimes it’s simply measured in courage.

The courage to start.
The courage to continue.
And the courage to be proudly, unapologetically you.

Because at the end of the day…

You are worth it.
Every single kilometer of it. 🏃‍♀️💛

Well done to this power couple who ran their first official 15km road race this past weekend through the beautiful streets of Constantia. 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

What started as a fun run quickly turned into a friendly chase between the two… because let’s be honest, nobody wants to lose at home! 😄.

Both finished strong, smiles intact, and bragging rights still up for debate.

Well done to both of you — the first 15km is done, and many more adventures await! 💪🎉

Were you active this weekend? 🤔

Maybe you ran a race, walked a parkrun, or tackled the Cape Town Cycle Tour in the Mother City! 🚴‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Well done to you… YES, YOU! 👏
You officially conquered the very dangerous “I’m too lazy this weekend” challenge — and that one can be tougher than a hill sprint! 😅

Tell us… how did you get active this weekend?
Run, walk, cycle, dance to the fridge and back — we want to hear it all! 💬💪

Cango Marathon – 2026/02/28

A massive shout-out to our incredible coaches who completed their second full marathon of February 2026! 💪🔥

Starting at the breathtaking Cango Caves, tackling 15km of mountain magic, and powering all the way back to the Military Base in Oudtshoorn — this route speaks for itself.

Mountains. Grit. Determination. And two absolute warriors leading from the front.

You don’t just coach the miles… you live them. You show us that limits are only suggestions and that consistency beats comfort every time.

Team, we are incredibly proud of you both. 👏
Two marathons down in one month — and still inspiring every step of the way!

Warriors today. Leaders always. 🏅

What a way to wrap up February! 🎉

The Blouberg Strand NG Church Fun Run – 2026/02/28 – delivered sunshine, sea views and smiles for miles. A quick dash along the beautiful coastline of Bloubergstrand, where the pace was fun, the vibe was fabulous, and the laughter was definitely faster than some of our legs 😅

And of course… we didn’t just run for the medal. We ran for the cupcakes, curry bunnies and pancakes waiting at the finish line. Priorities, people! 🧁🥞

Massive shoutout to the incredible team Run Walk For Life Table View for showing up, showing off, and representing in style. You make every kilometre look like a celebration! 💙🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

February, you’ve been good to us. Now we’re ready for more! 💥

MONDAY SESSIONS AT RUN WALK FOR LIFE TABLE VIEW 💚

Monday Sessions are the unofficial therapy session we never knew we needed 😄

From unpacking the weekend’s adventures to shamelessly flashing the race bling, there’s always a story to tell. We relive that shiny new PB at parkrun, or the “very serious” family stroll on the beach that somehow ended with coffee and cake.

There’s laughter… lots of laughter. Sometimes more laughter than kilometers — especially when the legs are protesting after a slow long run… or perhaps after a slightly enthusiastic weekend of eating and drinking. No judgement here!

But one thing is certain: if you miss a Monday, you miss out.

🏅 MEDAL MONDAY – Balwin Peninsula Marathon 42.2km 🏅
📅 2026/02/16

From left to right: Griffin De Ru, Coach Andrew, Pieter Naude, Coach Cheryl, Wesley Naude – and what a powerful lineup it is!

From the start at Cape Town Stadium to the finish at Simonstown Naval Base, 42.2km of grit, heart, and “why did we sign up for this again?” moments 😅

But look at those medals… totally worth it.

Strong legs. Strong minds. Strong team.
That’s how Marathon Monday should look 💪🏽🔥

Marathon Recovery Mode: Activated 🏃‍♀️➡️🛌

Well… we trained for months.
We conquered the distance.
We earned the medal.
And now?
We walk down stairs like we’re 97 years old and negotiating peace treaties with our quads.

Marathon recovery is that special time when:
Sitting down requires a strategy meeting.
Getting up requires a small prayer.
Sneezing activates muscles you didn’t know existed.
And you proudly wear your medal… mostly because lifting your arms to take it off feels unnecessary.

But here’s the magic ✨
Recovery isn’t weakness — it’s part of the victory lap.
It’s where the body rebuilds.
It’s where the mind reflects.
It’s where you realise you did something extraordinary.

So hydrate like it’s your job.
Stretch like you mean it.
Eat like you earned it (because you absolutely did).
And walk it out… slowly… very slowly.

Recovering properly after a marathon is just as important as the training that got you to the start line. Here’s a simple, practical guide to help your body bounce back stronger 🏃‍♀️

🕒 The First 30–60 Minutes After You Finish
1. Keep moving (gently).
Don’t stop abruptly. Walk around for 10–15 minutes to prevent stiffness and help circulation.
2. Hydrate immediately.
Water + electrolytes. You’ve lost fluids and salt — replace both.
3. Refuel smartly.
Within 30–60 minutes, eat:
Carbohydrates (to replenish glycogen)
Protein (to repair muscle)
A good ratio is roughly 3:1 carbs to protein. Think chocolate milk, yogurt & fruit, eggs on toast, smoothie with protein.

🛁 The First 24 Hours
4. Stretch lightly.
Nothing aggressive. Gentle mobility work only.
5. Elevate your legs.
Lie down and put your legs up against a wall for 10–15 minutes to reduce swelling.
6. Ice or contrast showers (optional).
Helpful if you feel very inflamed, but not mandatory.
7. Sleep.
This is your secret weapon. Growth hormone peaks during sleep — that’s where real repair happens.

📅 Days 2–7 Post-Marathon
8. Active recovery.
Easy walking, light cycling, or swimming. No speed work. No ego running.
9. Foam rolling & massage.
Helps with tightness and circulation.
10. Eat well.
Keep protein high and don’t suddenly “diet.” Your body is still repairing muscle damage.
11. Listen to pain signals.
Soreness = normal. Sharp or localized pain = investigate.

🚫 What NOT To Do

Don’t rush back into hard training.
Don’t ignore unusual pain.
Don’t sign up for another marathon in your emotional high… immediately. (Okay, maybe give it 48 hours 😅)

⏳ When Can You Run Again?

Easy jog: Usually 3–5 days after (if you feel good).
Structured training: 10–14 days minimum.
Full race effort: Often 4–6 weeks depending on experience.

Remember:
You didn’t just run 42.2km — you stressed every system in your body. Recovery isn’t laziness. It’s part of being a smart athlete.

Your medal is shiny… now let your muscles shine too. 🏅

Today we recover.
Tomorrow we brag.
Soon… we sign up again. 😏🏅

Peninsula Marathon 42.2km

From the start line at Cape Town Stadium to the finish at Simonstown Naval Base — 42.2km of grit, gees, and just a little bit of “why did we sign up for this again?” 😅

What a day out on the Peninsula! Sunshine, sea views, and a team that showed up with heart, humour, and serious determination.

A massive shoutout to our top athletes:
🏃‍♂️ Runners Coach Andrew
🌹 Coach Cheryl – the rose between the thorns
🔥 Griffin De Ru
⚡ Wesley Naude
💪 And officially joining the marathon squad – Pieter Naude!

Whether it was your first marathon or your tenth, 42.2km is 42.2km. Blisters don’t count how many you’ve done before. Every single one of you is a winner in your own way — for the early mornings, the long runs, the discipline, and the courage to stand on that start line.

You’ve earned those bragging rights. Wear those beautiful medals proudly (yes, even to the grocery store 🏅).

We are incredibly proud of you. You athletes are truly inspiring!

Our Story

The Run/Walk for life program is great for all ages and fitness levels, with the emphasis on improving fitness levels, promoting weight loss and stress relief.

Our program consists of 3 sessions a week allowing sufficient time for muscles to recover and facilitate a reduction in risk of injury.

Exercises are prescribed in a manner that is tailor made for the individual which is vital to our program so that you don’t over exercise and equally that you don’t under exercise – consequently you will exercise with a group of people of similar fitness and ability as yourself and we monitor your performance very much in the same way as a personal trainer and it allows you to exercise in a safe and social environment.
