Introduction to AP Therapists:

Adéle Pudney completed a B.Sc. Physiotherapy degree in 2003 at UCT, after a long career in gymnastics and performing arts, during which time she sustained various injuries which helped her to understand the woes of the injured body. This led to her keen interest in posture correction, balance training and rehabilitation. Adéle found a passion for facilitating people to find ways out of their painful postures and patterns. After 13 years of learning through clinical experience she is building up and training a team of registered physiotherapists to work with a similar outlook and understanding. A typical treatment session consists of history taking, posture/movement assessment, and goal setting, followed by appropriate treatment. Clients receive specifically designed Exercise Programs and advice on ergonomics helping to reduce recurrence of injuries/problems. Adéle and her team works within a multi-disciplinary team consisting of all the practitioners required to find a working solution for each presenting problem within the client’s individual context. Adéle is a Registered Physiotherapist, Reflexologist, Watsu practitioner/Instructor and Heartmath coach. These techniques can be implemented to help with stress management, which has a big influence on pain and function. Always searching for effective ways in which to help people achieve their goals in health, Adéle is teaming up with other professionals designing Chronic pain workshops in order to disseminate the complicated and often confusing information in a simple and easy way to clients, family members and practitioners. Hydrotherapy forms a big part of our treatment plans, either on an individual basis or as groups. Our team also offers home visits, which is especially helpful after surgery. We treat orthopaedic, neurological & chest conditions and sports injuries. Some of these in include – Stroke, Parkinson’s, CP, post-surgical rehabilitation, headaches, whiplash, joint pain, bronchitis, pneumonia and many more. Our passion is early detection and prevention and we now offer screening for primary school children. This allows common problems to be identified and managed in order to prevent future problems.

🌍💙 Happy World Physiotherapy Day! 💙🌍

I truly love my work. Every day as a physiotherapist, I get to walk alongside people in their recovery — whether after injury, surgery, or navigating life’s challenges.

Yes, it can be hard. We witness pain, limitation, and frustration. But we also witness courage, resilience, and transformation. Step by step, we find the way forward together.

What I treasure most is helping each person discover how to move better with what they have — offering tools, knowledge, and exercises that open up new possibilities.

It’s a privilege, and it reminds me daily why I chose this path. 💫

Here’s to the healing, the progress, and the human spirit that keeps moving forward.

🌍 Today we celebrate World Physiotherapy Day! Physiotherapists play a vital role in keeping people moving, preventing injuries, managing pain, and supporting healthier lives at every age. Take a moment to thank a physio who has made a difference in your journey to better health. 💙 ...

It really helps when we start to connect with our emotions and recognize where we feel them in our bodies.

Through manual therapy we start softening our general holding patterns (which dampen our awareness of what we feel) and we can start to have more in depth connections with our own responses.

Your cells, the citizens of your body, also talk to your mind (the government). They do this through their own special language of symptoms and emotions.

New Brain Map Shows How Decisions Emerge Across the Brain

A worldwide team of scientists has mapped decision-making across the entire mouse brain at single-cell resolution, an unprecedented achievement.

Using steering-wheel tasks, high-density electrodes, and standardized methods across 22 labs, the team captured brain activity in real time.

Results revealed that decision-making is not confined to “cognitive centers” but widely spread across many brain regions, including those linked to movement.

This dataset now provides a powerful resource for testing new theories of brain function.

Autism Gene Found to Alter Brain’s Social Hormone Signals

A new study reveals how a mutation in the autism-linked Shank3 gene disrupts social behavior by altering vasopressin release in the brain.

Researchers found that mutant mice had reduced vasopressin in the lateral septum, leading to lower sociability and diminished defensive aggression.

Importantly, vasopressin acts through two distinct receptors: one that regulates sociability and another that controls aggression.

By selectively activating the sociability pathway, scientists improved social interaction without triggering aggression, pointing to a potential therapeutic strategy.
