Dr Olive McConney is a Cape Town–based medical doctor registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA). She completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB,ChB) at Stellenbosch University in 2016.

Over the years, Dr McConney has cared for patients in both public and private healthcare settings, including Leratong Hospital in Gauteng, as well as Retreat and Delft Community Health Centres in the Western Cape. Her experience as a general practitioner has given her a deep appreciation for the unique stories, challenges, and strengths each patient brings.

Driven by a passion for holistic and compassionate care, Dr McConney believes in supporting individuals and families in achieving true well-being — physically, mentally, and emotionally. Her approach is centred on helping people live healthier, more balanced, and more fulfilling lives.

Dr. Ray Meas was honored to be invited by to share insights and experiences as a GP working in HIV and sexual health. 🌈

The discussion explored the challenges faced by marginalized communities following the closure of USAID/PEPFAR clinics and how we, as the South African medical fraternity, can step up to fill these critical gaps in care.

Dr. Meas also highlighted organisations such as and that continue to fight for access, equity, and the rights of the q***r community as well as encouraging medical students to become informed allies before entering the workforce. 🩺✨
