MacMac 2024 > Well done to SUS athletes Magdel Kinghorn, Waldi van Schalkwyk and Greta Gericke for yet another finish at MAC MAC ULTRA . In 2022, Magdel and Waldi smashed the 46km and this year they went for the first ever MacMac 25km. Waldi got a 6th place in the female section and we can’t be more proud! These two also had their hands full with supporting Greta as she took on the 50miler (80km). You won’t get a more supportive duo than them!

In 2022, Greta did a time of 15:46 and this year she managed to slice the time with two hours coming in at 13:47. Even after a fall with 30km to go (including the daunting Maritzbos descent), she was placed as the 4th female across the finishline.

With endurance races like these, it’s not just about running your race. It’s about a supporting coach, the tons of laughter, supporting words and overall community between friends and family during the whole adventure. Always make time to enjoy the process!

An extra post for this girl, SUS athlete Greta Gericke. She loves technical descents and that's why this year's UTCT TM35 was the prefect route for her. Even though it was 1900m+ of climbing (including the Platteklip Gorge beast of a climb at the start) there was also 1700m+ descending luring in the background. She placed 15th female overall and we can't be more proud. 🤩🍉 Well done, Greta, your sticking-to-the-program and consistent ticking off the boxes in training paid off.
