As with the moon Life too has many phases. It has come to that time where I enter a new phase in my life and with that I have to say Goodbye to Try Home Remedies, Bath Bombs etc and all my Amazing clientele.

I have learnt so much from starting this small hustle. It taught me strength, endurance, patience, art, science and truly fuelled my passion of self-care regimes, gifting and aromatherapy.
I learnt, I grew, I lost, and I won but every experience made me stronger.

The most precious gift I got back from starting Try Home Remedies was meeting the Souls that the Universe pulled in. Some are now family to me and that has been the biggest reward.

Thank you to my Sister who journeyed with me in the production sector, I couldn’t have gotten through some days and orders without your help. Your energy and charisma, attention to detail and work ethic always made it fun. It has been an adventurous experience. We made some amazing unforgettable memories.

Thank you to those for the on-going support, respect, love and friendship; the ones who understood the intent, passion and integrity I strived to bring with Try Home Remedies, each sale catalyzed our dream of getting to Canada. I appreciate you all!!!

Please always remember the importance of that 15 – 20 min down time in a soak. It is more than a bubble bath, it’s more than water, essential oils and some fizz…. It’s a time to reflect, heal, meditate, release. It’s a time to spoil your hard working body. It’s a time to hydrate, journal or listen to music that feeds your soul. It’s a time to manifest your deepest desires or a time to escape your deepest hurts. It’s about prioritizing who you are and what you deserve. The oils are there to add layers of healing and calm. The elements are added to alkaline and add healing minerals to your body. It’s a safe space to reflect on all the things you can be grateful for. It truly is Magic.

I trust you can carry me in memory when you fill your baths, light those candles and pour that glass of wine.

Nothing beats a Detox Soak.

Aiding your body with getting rid of toxins is a true gift during the winter season. It's imperative to keep our immune system at optimum; so an array of tonics, teas and soaks are definitely a must.

Please remember to always have a glass of water on hand whilst soaking and to make sure you get up and out slowly especially with detox soaks. Organic, raw ingredients & Essential oils (not fragrance) are always key to home remedy regimes.

Heres a simple yet effective and beneficial Detox Soak Recipe:

1/4 cup Himalayan Salt Bath crystals
1/4 cup Epsom salts
1/4 cip Baking soda
1/3 cup Apple cider vinegar
20 drops Tea tree oil

*Soak for 20 to 30 min in warm water, remember to hydrate and if you not a fan of the Acv scent, have a 5min shower afterward 😉

We on the cusp of heading into Winter in the City and alot of people are faced with the change of season dilemma.

There are so many home remedies to help bounce back your family to sound health. I think its been several years since we had to rush to a GP and thats not only saved us on a financial basis but the knowing that as a mum I can help my two seeds on the onset of feeling sick... thats priceless.

Below is a beautiful recipe for a syrup that is an amazing immune booster. I trust it serves you during this Winter.

Enjoy the grey cloudy days, the beautiful rain and the comfort dishes this season instead of feeling under the weather.

Recipe:
1 Cup dried Elderberries
4 Cups water
2.5cm Fresh Ginger peeled
1 Lemon sliced
3 Cinnamon Sticks
1 Teaspoon ground Turmeric
1 Cup Honey

In a large pot bring the following up to a boil: Water, Elderberries, Ginger, Lemon, Cinnamon sticks and Turmeric.

Reduce heat to low and simmer for about 45 minutes or until water has reduced by half. Remove from heat and allow to cool for a few minutes.

Strain the mixture into a clean bowl or jar, let the liquid cool to room temperature. Stir the honey in completely dissolved

Transfer the syrup into a clean jar or bottle and store in the refrigerator for 3-4 weeks.

Dosage:
Adults - 15ml (1 tbl spoon)per day
Children over 1 years - 2.5ml - 5ml (half to 1 teaspoon)

NB* Elderberry is not recommended to children under 1 years old.

You can get dried Elderberry from any local Wellness store or Dischem for under R100.00
