π€π GBV Action Day : 21 November 2025 ππ€
Gender-Based Violence continues to devastate women, children, and families across South Africa. As healthcare professionals, we witness its impact every day β on bodies, on mental health, on futures, and on communities.
On the 21 November 2025, we stood firmly with Women for Change SA in calling for urgent action, accountability, and protection for all survivors.
GBV is not a womenβs issue. It is a national crisis.
We call on our colleagues, partners, and the public to:
π£ Raise your voice β speak out against violence and discrimination.
π Support survivors β believe them, protect their dignity, and help them access care.
π©πΎβπ Educate and empower β challenge harmful norms and advocate for safe homes, schools, and workplaces.
π¦ΈπΎββοΈ Take action β join community movements, support GBV organisations, and demand policy change.
As the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, we are committed to the health and wellbeing of women and girls, we reaffirm our dedication to:
β Providing compassionate, trauma-informed care
β Strengthening clinical support for survivors
β Training our teams to recognise and respond to GBV
β Advocating for a safer, more just South Africa
In partnership with on the GBV Screening Intervention
Let us stand together. Let us act together.
