Meet Stephan Bekker — a brave young patient who just completed 4.5 years of bee venom immunotherapy!

After experiencing two life-threatening reactions to bee stings at just 9 years old, Stephan began monthly injections in January 2021. In August 2024, he was stung again while playing rugby — and had only a mild local reaction. No fear, no hospital… just back to the game.

His journey has brought peace of mind to his entire family, making outdoor adventures safe again. 🌿💪

It is normal to feel sad and worried sometimes. But did you know people with HAE have higher rates of anxiety and depression?

In a global study, people with HAE were 3 times more likely to have depression, and 10 times more likely to have anxiety compared to the general population.

Reasons for anxiety revolved around:
✳️ Fear of the next attack, including a serious attack in the throat

✳️Traveling far from home

✳️Perceived burden on care partners, friends, and family

✳️Passing HAE on to children
