Well now haven’t we been very quite… and that’s because we have some news!!!

22 Dirkie Uys has been our home for three years, what started out as a dream with a handful of likeminded ladies quickly grew into a village that fed our souls just as much as it did the community.

We have loved our time at this address and have many cherished memories there but as they say a change is as good as a holiday and after the last two years boy do we need a holiday!

But oh no that is not what we have been doing behind the scenes, we have been working frantically to reopen in a new location, a space that we feel suits us even better…dare I say we have found our forever home and as luck would have it, its right next door!

We are so excited to share the new space with you but its not quite ready yet so be sure to keep following to watch our progress!

2021 say what?!

We have been so excited to hit the ground running this year and then... the ground seemed to fall out from under all of us with covid infections on the rapid increase.

After much consideration and keeping the health and safety of our staff and customers as our main priority, we have decided to keep the coffee shop and boutique part of the business closed for another week.

That being said, we are not non operational but just like before doing things a bit different.

We will be selling online via and have some stunning new designs to show you!

Those craving worthy cakes and slices are still available on an order by order basis and can be delivered in and around the Helderberg area.

We are also reintroducing our zoom workout sessions with the next few days! So keep your eyes peeled for more info there.

is fully operational on a booking by booking basis and with strict COVID protocol in place and is ready and waiting for your call to make up your bunch and deliver.

We miss our community and our space so much but believe that by digging in our heels and holding on tight we will make it through this peak and come out stronger the other side!

Where it all began

Only when you become a mother do you really understand the essence behind the African proverb “it takes a village to raise a child”. When I was pregnant, I met a group of moms in my prenatal class, whom at that stage I thought I had nothing in common with other than the fact that we were all pregnant and expecting around the same time. My naive pre-parent self thought that I would see those women once a week in the final few months of my pregnancy, chat about relatively superficial pregnancy related topics and then once I completed the course and had my baby would never interact with them again. I had friends and a close knit family so couldn’t really see a need for these strangers in my life post baby. Then I became a mom… I was one of the lucky ones, I had two very easy pregnancies which both resulted in relatively fast, unmedicated natural births. Breastfeeding came easy and I had no trouble with latching, supply or baby refusing the breast (actually quite the opposite.)

But as time went on I found that I was calling on these very women whom I had met during my preganacy for advice, support and sometimes just twighlight feed whatsapp chats more and more frequently. Pre-baby we had nothing in common but now we all shared a common, often all consuming role – that of motherhood. Some of these woman I hardly ever see face to face, while others have over time become some of my closest friends, but no matter what the reason for our specific interactions, I know I would not have been able to get to where I am today, and beyond as a mother without them – they are each an integral part of my village, and I in turn form a part of theirs.

The modern woman is bred to believe that we can and should do it all, we can not only work but build a successful career while still being perfect wives, fulltime mothers and homemakers. It is because of this culture that many of us try our utmost to do it all, often at all costs, without asking for advise or showing weakness to our fellow women. Some of us manage to stay afloat although usually only just, but many of us burnout, end up sacrificing one role for another just in order to get through the day.

It is our goal at MOTHERHOOD to show mothers that we are all in this together, that nobody is perfect and no one gets it right every step of the way, we all faulture, we all fail and it is our jobs as mothers to be there for each other to provide support, advice and sometimes even just an ear to listen in order to help guide each other through the maze that is motherhood.
