Mindful meditation practice has been proven to be an effective practice to relieve stress and improve mental and physical wellness. Whilst we are in 'turbo charge full stress mode' our reactions to these situations can create havoc within ourselves, physically and mentally. Weight gain, weight loss, irritability, altered sleep patterns, sluggish behavior, mood swings - all this can be reversed positively by the simplicity of Mindful Meditation.
Take 2 minutes initially, be seated comfortably in a chair, back straight, shoulders in balance, relaxed neck, soft gaze ahead of you, feet resting on the floor, become aware of the sound of your breath as you inhale, feel the breath as it warms up against the back of your throat, notice the chest and shoulders rising with the inbreath, and, with quite a forceful exhalation of the out breath, it is with these out breaths that we release our deepest tension. The tension within our' heart and mind'. As we continue noticing the in and out breath, be aware of of the sounds or movement surrounding us, don't resist this, notice this and bring your attention back to the breath.
As we continue to practice this daily meditation practice, it could be the part of the day where 2 minutes could become 20 minutes! Mindful meditation allows us to become fitter humans, mentally and emotionally and physically. With each in and out breath, our footprints in the sand (the painful and negative memories) can slowly be blown away into a distance which we learn to no longer notice as much.
Dr Caroline Leaf describes in her book 'SWITCH ON YOUR BRAIN' - that we can re-write our story.
One of my favorites - Eckhart Tolle, says, YOU HAVE A TREASURE WITHIN YOU THAT IS INFINITELY GREATER THAN ANYTHING THE WORLD CAN OFFER.
If we do not nurture and nourish our minds, how then, can we Live and Love? Sal Moritz
