Martha Mostert, 60 Pensioner

I have coming to Solomons Haven for the past four years. I feel good about coming to Solomons Haven because as a pensioner it has been a great help for me. I feel like family when I am at Solomons Haven and Maria never hesitate to give and look after us pensioners. I feel that we are able to do more in our homes with the support we receive from Solomons Haven. A friend of mine told me about the good Maria Solomons was doing for the elderly and I have been here ever since.

I am grateful and want to thank Maria for still being the kind and caring person and hope that remains that way as pensioners her support means a lot to us.

Eilene Kenned, 66 (Disabled Pensioner)

I have been with Solomons Haven for more than 5 years. I am happy to be able to come to Solomons Haven because as a pensioner the grant that I receive does not always cover all you need in your homes and the food and food parcels that we pensioners receive really helps a lot during the month. I am always praying that Maria gets more support as I know from experience that the more she receives the more she blesses us pensioners and it doesn’t matter how many people there is at her gates she always makes sure that there is enough food for everyone and for this we are grateful.

I know that as a pensioner herself Maria often uses her own pension to ensure that we always have something to eat. Even when it’s not her regular feeding days I know that I can ask her and she always seem to have something to give to the needy.

Patricia Ellie, 67 Pensioner

I have been coming to Solomons Haven for the past 7 years. I am so happy for what Maria does for us and she interacts with always asking about our health and we are doing. For me it is a joy coming to her place as she and her volunteers always treat us with respect and no one looks down on us because she has seen the need in our community and tries her utmost to make life easier for us. Most of us pensioners cannot rely on our pensions only and she even holds a lunch for us each year and we cannot wait to see what she has planned for us this year.
